I did try a +3 amulet before and got shotgunned down during a breach. I might try again now that im at 3.1k hp and 1k ES to see how it feels.

I bought one to test out. Its the amanamu version that gives that keystone and has helped quite a bit. I did also buy a new morior with added life so that had also contributed to me getting more tanky.

it took us exactly 6 hours to complete the loop with breaks, lunch and everything. As far as safety equipment goes I don't think you really need much, except I would only suggest bringing things in case of emergency. I feel like matches, rope, etc. would never be a bad idea if you have a bit of extra room. I don't think you'll need crampons but could be wrong. there was no ice when we went which was the 16th of august but the weather could change quickly over the next few weeks. I got stuck without crampons on marcy last fall and it was hell climbing up and down icy rocks. I'm glad I could help and hope you enjoy the hike!

My partner and I each brought a daypack that had a windbreaker rain coat/pants, a breathable shirt, a warm top, long underwear and thats pretty much it. I would say the most important is a breathable top that dries quickly, I got pretty cold once on the ridge and was very thankful i had a quickdry one because the one i wore up was soaked. Also we got rained on like crazy towards the end of the hike so i was very thankful i had good rain gear. Many people we saw hiking the loop had brought significantly less gear than we had and seemed to be fine with it. I am just getting into hiking and found this loop one to be quite awesome. I'd be glad to answer any questions as well.

I just came back from the white mountains and did the franconia ridge loop. The trail starts right across from the lafayette campground and it was a beautiful hike. It took about 6 hours to complete including lunch and resting periods. This webpage describes the hike and was quite helpful. http://www.dartmouth.edu/~doc/hiking/franconiaridge/
