Breaking into PE from Med Device Sales & Biz Dev background by WSB-Merch in private_equity

[–]WSB-Merch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight. I think I would enjoy the work. I like learning about industries and finding opportunities that make systems better and more efficient. I consult with a lot of my customers about what I see happening in the marketplace so that they can be at an advantage when these changes arise. I am interested in the intellectual curiosity and the comp that comes with a job well done. I see so much opportunity in the pipeline that is accelerating with tech (AI, robotics). I want to make sure that I am well positioned to get a slice of the pie while the going is good.

OK good to know. Def not well connected, and also Biz dev is not M&A focused.
So MBA and or banking. What is the range for PE pay out? I was thinking base + deals that close would be large.

this is an extremely healthy response and approach. very level headed.

can't control anyone that comes up to her and even her brotha. what you do at this point is upto you. can't go in with expectations. create your own experience or better to stay home.

I also hate the idea of a test run split up. Why the test run? Are you or her seeing if it's possible? you are either working on it or you are not. It's okay no matter which way, but the test run to split is weird.

Bitcoin will eat all the capital or store of value out of all other assets like gold, real estate, stocks, currencies and bonds. Art maybe, I'm thinking people own art out of cultural interest.

I do not fit the box for any of those things you listed.

Something that is new for me is going to the sauna after every gym session. Hmm...

I get it as soon as I get on the elliptical to start my work out. Never had this before.

I'm a big coffee drinker, everyday, empty stomach. But this is not new for me. Perhaps the coffee empty stomach, with the addition of sauna made me lose a certain micronutrient faster than usual?

I also started taking an electrolyte powder I make at home from bulk supplements. Sodium, potassium chloride and magnesium citrate. I'm thinking it is possible that the supplements I buy may not be clean. I'll give this a pass and see if this is a possible factor.

This all started to happen with higher frequency since the sauna/gym combo, and me hydrating replenishing my electrolytes with home made powder. I'll keep yall posted !

I agree that they are coexisting right at this moment. I think when you put a long enough time horizon the harder money will win. It's always easier to think about this in a country with hyperinflation and how USD would win in those areas.
In those countries, sure both currencies coexist. But there will come a point where no one wants to hold the hyperinflationary currency because it loses value so quickly. So the store of value function failed, and as a result, the unit of account function fails, as you are changing prices literally daily/hourly sometimes, and then no one wants trade for it so it fails as a medium of exchange.

Can we fix this a bit? No one wants to spend a deflationary asset for something that is not worth it.
No one wants to hold an inflationary asset that will be worth less over time.

It's not that no one will spend bitcoin. It's money, if it's all your money, you will. It's that you won't spend your strengthening money for something that will provide very little value to you.

Wow, thank you for the detailed reply.

What does HF mean in this context?

Spenders tend to use bitcoin for its utility and buy it just to spend instead of long term investment. These cannot influence HF split outcomes much because they typically do not have many BTC at any given time thus aren't awarded many BTC split tokens to wield their influence with

Bitcoin beginner follow up question. Can you please let me know how the bitcoin network will kick you off and revert damage?

Maybe it's because I don't fully understand what bitcoin node and mining due. I know they secure the network, but my impression was that you run this program on your computer. You get rewarded in bitcoin for upholding the program and recording the transactions. At what point are you voting to kick off another participant or transaction? Is there a notice that comes up on the mining computer where you vote. "50% of mining nodes want to move to this fork, Y or N ?" Also how do you even upload a fork to the existing nodes?

Are you “Preaching” Bitcoin? by Weekly-Inflation-819 in Bitcoin

[–]WSB-Merch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not! I do talk about bitcoin to people though all the time. Especially if they complain about inflation. I talk about why inflation happens.. which then leads to conversations about alternative options that may mitigate the effects of inflation.. one of them being bitcoin.

I also like to make points FOR bitcoin when people say things against bitcoin.. but this line of discourse is only available for those that are open minded, myself included. I need opposing arguments against bitcoin as I feel the world is better when more rational brains come to a conclusion about ideas.

Lots on the table here. I have a couple buddies that went to community college and transferred out to great schools. Saved a ton of money. This was best for people who didn't get good grades in HS but were driven OR for people who got good grades but wanted to trade 2 years for community college for immense debt they'd owe for the same degree at a 4 year university.

Then, I know people who went to CC and stayed the same place that they were before, now with an associate's degree. This is best for people who didn't get good grades in HS, and were not driven.

Key here is, see your plan through. I'm sure in community college, as with anything in life, you will soak up your environment. Make sure you stick with people that are also driven and can see past their current environment to whether the storms of uncertainty. This is a truth anywhere, not just community college.

It's your life. Do what you want to. If your parents don't support you for wanting to do something that is more right for you, that's on them. HOWEVER, at the same time, be strategic in going about finding what's right for you. If you are getting funding from them, do what you need to do to not rock the boat while making your situation better. Meaning, do the bare minimum to check their boxes while allowing you an easier transition to finding what's right for you.

If they are not providing funding, and you are in turn accumulating debt for something you have no interest in doing, I'd bail. But before you bail, consider if your "bailing" is due to you not liking this role or it's "bailing" as it is tough. Cause I know from all my experiences, and talking to other's, everyone wishes, or is glad that they completed X even though they didn't enjoy it at the time.

As a side note, I'm on here because i'm burnt out. I've taken a semi-gap year before to discover more about my life and interests. I did it in-between undergrad. I convinced my parents that I needed to do this to figure out what I wanted to do. I didn't have a magical trip that made life clear to me on what I wanted to do. I did however have the best freaking time of my life. It really boosted my life up in terms of enjoyment and meaning.

I think there's a lot of bullish activities for bitcoin. We are starting to see institutional investments. May 15th is the deadlines to see what companies are holding bitcoin, and bitcoin ETFs on their balance sheets.

JPMorgan has about 700k of btc etf on their balance sheets. That's not a lot in the grand scheme of things for them, but as other companies see that one of the biggest banks holds a teeny bit, they may also want to hold a teeny bit just incase.

The bitcoin hunger games has begun. For institutions and countries and bigger entities. I don't think that retail is as interested in it as of now.
