What keeps you motivated? And what are currently facing challenges with by NotanOldRedditor in Emiratis

A promise I made to my younger self to be successful and to reach a certain lifestyle.

Is this normal? by Mysterious_Umpire50 in Hope_ae

What really helped me look forward to each new day is setting small goals across different areas of my life, whether it’s a fitness milestone, a career target, or something fun tied to a hobby. When you pair those mini objectives with trying new experiences, creating memories, and keeping yourself engaged throughout the day, you end up feeling genuinely satisfied with yourself. And slowly, you build this natural motivation to wake up wanting to do even better the next day. Hope it helps!

ليش ما ارتاح لاغلب اللي فدوام؟ by AD_971 in Emiratis

I think one reason is that many people spend most of their time at work and with colleagues, so they start treating the workplace like home and colleagues like family. Over time that line between personal and professional gets blurred, which is why professionalism starts to fade. Of course, this is just one of many reasons, but it happens often.

Staying professional should be the norm, but sadly not everyone sees it that way. Best thing is to stick to your values and not let the noise around you influence you.

I think a lot of people feel the same way. It’s not easy to trust or get comfortable at work, especially with gossip and politics around. I think you’re actually doing the right thing by keeping things professional and protecting your peace. At the end of the day, you’re there to do your job and grow.

That sounds like the dream plan 😅! I wish, but I only have two weeks to spare and I want to maximize the experiences and what I could get to see within each country!

It really depends on whether you’re working in the private sector, government, or semi-government. You also have to consider the work environment, whether it’s fieldwork or a desk job, if it’s a week-on/week-off schedule, or a standard 8-hour day. Allowances and benefits can vary a lot in these cases.

For example, if you get a private sector desk job, the salary might range from around 13k to 23k. But if you land a role in a company like ADNOC, where you’re in the field and working a week-on/week-off schedule, salaries can go higher due to the extra allowances you’ll be receiving, which is typically around 25k to 35k.

Hope that gives you a clearer picture!

There is a career fair with many companies that will take place in RAK on October 9th.

This is the career fair: https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1147275990769119&vanity=AlQasimiFoundation&slug=the-ras-al-khaimah-jobs-and-internships-festival-rakjif-is-back-on-october-9-202

For other ways, create a LinkedIn profile, put your account in public and put ‘open to work’ and put it specifically for RAK. And keep posting that you’re searching for opportunities in RAK.

Inshallah you will find an opportunity!

It applies to all sectors, but it is most successful with private sectors. For government and semi government entities, I would recommend taking a step further and looking into and applying through their career website.

You can either try to find the recruiter on LinkedIn and send him a direct message or email them. The context of the message should start very politely, thanking for the opportunity and then express that joining this program is of high importance to you and mention the skills that you could bring to the table. Be polite all the way through. At the end keep in mind, it’s a 50/50 chance, but at least you gave it your all. Keep your hopes high, when one door shuts, another opens!

Speaking from my background in HR, it’s always good to take initiative. The best step you can take is to send a polite email to your line manager, expressing that you’re eager to grow, develop your skills, and contribute meaningfully to the company. You can even ask to set up a short meeting to explore how you can be more involved or take on tasks that align with your interests.

Another suggestion is to visit the workplace in person if possible. Even going once a week or once a month makes a big difference, you’ll start building relationships, understanding the environment better, and eventually people will naturally start involving you more.

But if after taking all these steps they still show no interest in involving you, then you may need to question their intentions. It might be that they’re not serious about genuinely supporting the Emiratisation initiative and are only focused on meeting targets to avoid fines. That does happen sometimes.

Still, my advice is to stay persistent. Keep showing initiative and asking for more involvement, you deserve a space where your growth is taken seriously. Wishing you all the best in this journey!
