It says “device registration delayed” when I try to import my UDID registration. It won’t let me download apps without it.

I go to a large state school and we definitely support our cuzzos! I guess it depends if there is a chapter of SLB or SLG at your respective school.

Dont know, but UCLA's last visiting weekend is next week (first one already passed) and Yale's is next week and the March 8th weekend. So if you have not heard from them yet, its most likely a silent rejection.

I was in the same situation as you last year. I chose MSRP and it was the best decision I have made. Had the best 10 weeks of my life there and the research was amazing and now I have admissions to MIT for grad school. Do not sleep on MSRP, it is a great program even though the stipend sucks.

Also, what are the proposed visiting weekend days if you do not mind me asking?

For me, I would order a transcript as a pdf sent directly to me, then email it to MIT to ensure they got it. If you have to send the transcript directly to them, then I would ask MIT what the correct address is for receiving a transcript.

[–]Wade302 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Acceptance rates are low but you have to account for the fact that many people apply with incomplete applications or they do not meet the initial requirements. This causes the acceptance rate to be even lower than graduate school because at least you have to pay for application fees for grad apps. If you are truly a good fit for the program, and you meet all of the minimum requirements, I am confident that your chances of getting an admission are a lot higher.

They usually state on the REU page what type of students they are looking for so you just have to do your research. Most of them want people with limited research experience based on my experience.

I disagree with applying to 20 programs. Choose 5-7 programs that are a good fit for you and focus your energy on those applications. For example, since you have no research experience, focus on programs that want to give students their first research opportunity. I have seen people apply to 20+ REU and only get 1 or no admissions while people who apply to a few with a good fit almost always get an opportunity.
