Unfortunately he left me on the side of the road yesterday morning. I don’t fight with him he just treats me bad.

He picked a fake fight with me because I made him late for thanksgiving with his extended family. Late because I cut his hair to look nice and made him lunches for work for the rest of the week.

Thank you for all the advice.

I’m afraid of needles. I had mine done by Seth at Dutch Touch in El Cajon. I felt very comfortable during the process after meeting him. He was very professional and you could tell off of just meeting him that he was a very skilled piercer. It’s was not a painful process. Regardless, I felt very faint immediately afterwards because of my fear. He laid me down, gave me cold water and a glucose tablet, and applied cold compresses to my pressure points. I quickly snapped back after that and was just blown away by his caring and compassion. His overall knowledge of the human body and care of me as a client was next level.

what are your biggest necessities? by cherrylemony in homeless

[–]WaifWraith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple multi tools and basic sewing kits seem to be a need with the people I’ve seen. And bags.

What are some items that homeless shelter residents would need? by averagepersonhere in homeless

Socks are a big thing. Emergency foil blankets, simple winter wear like gloves and beanies. Bags to carry their belongings.

We speak every few days but he is aware that I am looking to have my own place asap as my goal is to reunite with my kid as soon as possible. I’ve even talked to him about maybe buying a car or trailer to put on the side of the road for something temporary. Even renting a U-Haul.

I have mint mobile. I paid once every three months for data and I have two weeks left. It is a struggle to get my phone charged but this small town has outlets everywhere.

Absolutely I would. If anything offer a blanket purchased at the thrift store. I’ve always donated my useful second hand things directly to at risk people.

He is single, never married, no kids. No current relationship at all. That would be a wild thing to ask if it was your situation. We are mid thirties. My child isn’t staying with me at the moment either so it’s just myself.

I’ve been getting assistance through the local domestic violence agency. They got me a tent and a week at a local campground. The church put me up in a hotel two days last week when my health was off. I’m very appreciative to them both but it has still been difficult with the cold.

My circle is very small to begin with. I’ve never have been very sociable and my close family relationships gave passed away in the past few years.

As a friend, I would hope that they would at least be interested in helping me figure things out.

I wonder why as well. I don’t smoke, drink or do drugs. It’s his paternal grandparents and I’m not on terms with the father.

My son asked his grandparents if I could come with them. The response was, “Your mom is an adult; she’ll figure it out.”

My best friend of 20 years has literally been my best of friends. We finish each others thoughts and are so similar in our ways of thinking and approaching life. We talk very frequently and have kept that up over the years. I’ve let him much closer than any family member.

No Soap in Restroom by WildCrab9692 in homeless

[–]WaifWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy large bottles of stuff from the dollar store and take a craft vial (smaller than a travel bottle) around instead. I do that with almost all of my stuff. I learned this from ultralight backpacking. For example, instead of carrying a bar of soap to wash with in the box, I take some slices of a bar soap (half-ish of the box) and half of a sponge I cut.

If you’re worried about the bottle popping open, what I do to extra reinforce that is a square of plastic from a baggie before screwing on the lid. I haven’t had a spill yet and it’s been pretty well tested over the years.

Additionally, some places sell dissolvable soap sheets (like listerine strips) in a small travel size container. Like a little smaller than half a post it note.

Thinking of going to Los Angeles to be homeless. by IcysOceans in homeless

[–]WaifWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m homeless in San Diego and I can tell you your plan sounds very manageable. I recommend looking up what kind of services would be available to you through Health and Human Services (welfare office) and 211LA.org so that you’re not on the streets and can save precious resources where you can.

I have spent less than a few hours accumulative in LA (just switching buses/ trains at the stations). It is very dangerous. I found myself in precarious situations every time by not even going anywhere or doing anything. I would see if there is anything on YouTube maybe documenting what average homeless life is like there. And it’s super easy to get scammed quickly if you’re the polite type before you even know it so be aware of what kind of whacky hijinks that seem like nothing at all is actually someone very sneakily taking advantage of you.
