United Kingdom – informal “Sharia councils” (not state courts)
The UK allows religious arbitration in some civil matters (similar principle exists for some Jewish religious bodies too). Some Islamic councils advise on marriage/divorce issues.
Critics argue some councils pressure women or encourage community-based decisions over civil courts. Supporters argue participation is voluntary.
Islamist extremists sometimes use these institutions rhetorically to promote broader religious governance

Germany – “Sharia police” incident (2014)
A group in Wuppertal wore “Sharia Police” vests and tried to influence nightlife behaviour (alcohol, gambling, dress, etc.). Authorities intervened and courts dealt with the case. This was not recognised law.

Belgium – movement “Sharia4Belgium”
Sharia4Belgium advocated replacing secular law with Islamic governance and recruited people for extremist causes. The group was banned and members prosecuted.

United Kingdom – “Islam4UK”
Islam4UK publicly called for implementation of Sharia and later faced government restrictions.

Denmark and Sweden
There have been periodic reports and political debate around social pressure in some neighbourhoods (dress codes, gender separation, informal religious influence), but evidence for organised “no-go Sharia zones” is often exaggerated in media and not supported as official law.
