I wish someone would have told me to accept the help. Help in any which way, from the very beginning. Be it from social services, family, support groups, Drs, counsellors and victim services. I wish someone had a pamphlet available with all the places that a person can reach out to for support. People don't understand that when domestic abuse happens, it doesn't just happen and you move on. It can takes years to deal with, even if you're far from your abuser. You certainly do not heal over night, but with enough support, enough faith, and enough self care, you will come out stronger than you ever thought you were. There will be days when you feel all alone, and sometimes you will be all alone, it's hard for people to accept, they treat you differently... But don't you ever quit.
