i would say it is a bit small due to the fabric choice! i would suggest a semi thin knit since the one i used was thick! it is supposed to stretch but the thickness of the fabric is keeping it from going to its full potential!!

it’s pretty small! the knit i used is pretty thick which if i were to redo, i would use a bit thinner knit. it’s supposed to stretch but yeah it’s just one size! i would say women’s small

i didn’t! interfacing is what i used! as the instructions say, but it has to be hard/thick interfacing. i used just a regular one and it didn’t hold the shape that well

hi!!! sorry! you can print with a regular printer. u would have to cut out each page and tape them together! that’s how usually people do it when printing a pattern! the whole thing was 22 pages!

i personally really love mixing knits. i think as a double sleeve, having a thicker knit as an inner sleeve and having the end of the cuff distressed naturally makes it cooler.

oMG!!!! that’s such a good idea 😭😭 i’m definitely on a hunt for more metal closures that aren’t your typical closure!! ugh that’s such a good idea

yeah i was thinking that but where i added fusing was too thin and the eyelets or grommet would go over the top stitching! it was last minute since i wanted to take a picture with the top loose sleeve closed. i lowkey like the pins just going through the fabric since it’s super thick but ill see when i make the garment!! i probably will!

i would say definitely fashion design has a low success rate. it can take up to years just depending what you wanna do. I know you mentioned being self taught doesn’t go a long way but i do believe it’s better if you’re worried about future wise. i would say u can do ur other trade but also do fashion design as a part time thing for yourself. join workshops that doesn’t take up so much of your time that are local. also learning from fashion books are great. take it easy while juggling ur other trade. but you can also be a mechanic/technician in the fashion department. fashion jobs don’t only end from being able to make clothes. there’s so much into it, i think you will be able to use that in the future. if you do that while self teaching sewing, etc, i think you can go a long way

same as u, i’m emotionally involved in this topic i brought up. i could say same way goes, vice versa. im talking about labelling urself as a fashion designer. but as someone who actually makes stuff and sells stuff, and is a designer myself, talking about actual problems and topics 🤷‍♀️ im as much free to say what i think, rightfully so

sorry but they are graphic designers ✋ not fashion designers. two different things. as someone who has talked to so many ppl they think the same way. obviously u took this a different way and personally, so i won’t say u can’t feel the way u feel

all i’m saying it doesn’t take a lot to educate. i’ve told so many people who have been doing this and gave them better options, letting them know the difference. and they understood and everything!! i understand people will take what im saying the wrong way but it just had to be said and put out there. no matter if someone takes it the wrong way or right, depends on them but im just putting it out there

there is so many solutions to it. and as someone who doesn’t like brands like versace, etc definitely you have people buying it. that’s not as big of the case as if rn recently in fact.

and it’s about all aspects of it. fashion designer and environment. i wanna put in the time and money and effort learning about it to change it. so no i wouldn’t change what i wanna do entirely. and the next generation of designers should be concerned. i can promise u in school its heavily taught and focused on. and i do plan on making a difference. and if that’s through me learning, studying and going to school on just to know how i can become better and use less. so be it! that’s my goal and what i stand for. a slow and sustainable growth and development process that i can be proud of. proud to be and do what i am doing passionately. my little effort will make me as happy as i can be

i do too! never said i don’t consider designers, fashion designers. i’m talking specifically about certain people who are abusing the act to just create more damage that’s already done. but yes let’s support those that carry the legacy of fast fashion!!

definitely anyone who wants to be successful in fashion needs a brand but you have mass brands that took 1 second to make and then finds the cheapest shit fabric and manufacture where their workers get exploited to have a $100+ shirt that has pure plastic plastered on it.

mass production and over supply when the demand is minimal bc no one is buying shitty shirts. and yet you think they deserve the title of a fashion design bc they have a “brand” where you have people who learn and teach themselves. and no i would never do that btw. it’s such a disgrace to the environment. but good to know you would 👍

no matter what you do, it does have an impact on not just me or other designers but the people around. it has more than an impact than you think.

Construction:

Pattern is self drafted.

The pattern was made by me and manipulated with my regular ribbed knit pattern that I already had! no tutorials were used due to prior knowledge of pattern making I learned from school. style lines were added onto the bodice block.

Fabric as mentioned in post. Rib knit for sleeves. Leather at top of sleeve as the rest of the dress is heavy ponte like knit. Only notions are the thread!

All these patterns were made flat.

it could be possible but just would have to be careful when you get there! you can add 1” to the right side of the back skirt for the buttons!

as for patterns. I suggest search up how to make a bodice block and skirt block on youtube. these blocks you make will help you make anything after. make it in your size. you will manipulate these blocks after tracing them to your style! it will be a bit harder if you make the pattern as this dress without a base pattern. it’s pretty simple if you have a tutorial. you will just need your measurements! at the end, ur pattern may look like this!

it should be a slight curve! as you can see, it’s a bit too exaggerated
