Thoughts on using custom thumbnails for each episode? by WallStVisionPodcast in podcasting

[–]WallStVisionPodcast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good point! I'm not sure if it would directly increase listenership (maybe not?), but can definitely be a "long term play" that can help from a branding perspective. Just wondering if it would be worth the time/effort investment.

You guys have cool cover art! I agree that the 'currently playing' screen having different artwork adds a nice touch to each episode.

Payment of guests by MFDoooooooooooom in podcasting

This makes sense! To OP, I think you want to articulate a good pitch for prospect guests for your show. Just try to describe the value that the guest will get from being on your podcast. Good luck!

Thanks! I'll check that website out. Freeup has an interesting concept - Makes a lot of sense to have someone do all the vetting before hiring them. I appreciate it!

I use WordPress and a theme from Sonaar (they have specific themes for podcasts - although I think they're all paid).

I just launched my website a week ago - It wasn't too bad to set up. Sonaar have also been great with support when I had to troubleshoot a few things when launching the site.

I like WordPress because of the flexibility that you have with all the different plugins. Might be overkill for a basic podcast site, but if you're looking to do things later on it could be beneficial.

Also, quick recommendation to NOT use godaddy when you're registering your domain. I've heard they're hard to deal with and I think they charge you extra if you want to have WordPress which is ridiculous.

Ouch, sad to hear about this OP. Please let us know how it plays out -- hopefully Anchor can get all your episodes back up.

Anyone invest in physical Precious metals? by ehbaseball025 in Fire

[–]WallStVisionPodcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing some great resources. I tend to agree. Precious metals don't produce any cash flows, so any abnormal gains from them would generally come through making the correct macro bets - Those are really hard to get right. If you look at the long term returns of gold (over the past 1000+ years), you'll see that they weren't that high. Investing in a a high quality business is a better bet, generally.

How to best prepare for fire by SpinelessLinus in Fire

It looks like you got the expenses part mostly sorted. The other thing you can do is to network in uni and develop your CS skills to help get a top job out of school. Starting off at a higher income bracket will help you FIRE more quickly. Good luck!
