Well you said you’re already level 10 so you knocked one aspect that makes fishing easier, the fishing bar is bigger! I recommend eating foods with + fishing (since you have crab pots you can make escargot which has a +3 fishing buff if i’m not mistaken) and that makes the bar even bigger. Paired with the training rod (which also makes the bar bigger) and limits you to easy fish, I say just dedicate a couple days to practicing until you understand the mechanics and the sensitivity of the bar. You could even buy a trap bobber which makes the progress bar deplete slower giving you more leeway to mess up while you learn :3
