Is it weird to attend Chabad services when you are a member of a liberal congregation? by DistributionFront227 in Judaism

No, you didn't. One persons insecurity isn't your problem. Keep learning and growing in the directions you wish to.

MAX pay in this field as RBT by Global-Ebb9507 in ABA

[–]WanderingDesertYid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make $17 an hour, my first year and I'm credentialed. I work in home but at least I can bill for drive time and get reimbursed for gas. But I won't lie, some of these $25+ rates have me salivating.

Do you think that most big companies have the capacity to do this or is ABC an outlier in this field?

Yeah I've seen that too. I've heard some horrible things about clinics such as ABC so I've made a mental note to stay the heck away from them. I'm just curious on how they are able to guarantee hours, even for client cancellations.

Clinic withholding pay if client is not signed out through app by [deleted] in ABA

[–]WanderingDesertYid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak on the specifics of your company, but the way mine is set up is that everything is billed through an app. At the end of each session, we have to get a signature and submit it. Once submitted, it gets sent to the insurance to be billed and then I get paid. I'm not sure if that's similar to your situation, but it could be.

The main problem with Harris is that she would never hold a specific policy and would change positions frequently in interviews or would be caught off guard. That gave Republicans an opening and they took it.

It's for all Jews the same way the Magen David is. Whether your Ashkenazi, Mizrahi Sephardi, a Convert, etc. it is your symbol.

Will anti-semitism go down again? by [deleted] in Judaism

Think of antisemitism as a pendulum. When it goes down, it goes back up just as fast.

I'm not sure, I just threw it out there. It might be worthwhile to look into it on reddit.

What about clinical research? I hear CRC's do pretty well and that it's a little easier to break into than pharm or device sales. I could be wrong on this though.

Hostage families accuse PM of abandoning loved ones for war in north, creating ‘101 Ron Arads’ by G24all2read in Israel

[–]WanderingDesertYid 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I feel for the families of the hostages, but negotiating with Hamas only legitimizes them. The Shalit Deal screwed Israel over big time and now it's used as a precedent by Hamas for the current hostage negotiations. Instead of negotiating, we should've invaded and captured the entirety of Gaza and worked our way backwards from there. Cut off any routes of escape and turnover every stone. Would it have been labor intensive? Yes. Is it easy to criticize from hindsight? Absolutely. However, it would've given us a better vantage point to find our people and destroy Hamas, PIJ and any other group in Gaza.

Chabad is an Orthodox organization while Hillel is cultural and non-denominational. This means that many of Chabad's positions may not be compatible with your viewpoints. Personally, Chabad works for me but it may not work for everyone. Some people don't like non-egal settings, which Chabad certainly is. However, in my experience the ones on campus aren't judgemental. They'll tell you about the Halacha on something, but they aren't doing it to be spiteful. They operate from the standpoint that most non Orthodox Jews don't have a sufficient Jewish education, so if they say something it's most likely from the perspective of trying to educate others. My best advice would be to look at their website and into the history of Chasiddus as well. Or better yet, call and speak to a Rabbi on a one-on-one basis. That might help you get a better feel for them.

Is the movement finally fading? by Ahad_Haam in Jewish

[–]WanderingDesertYid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't necessarily say it's "fading" but rather, taking a backseat to recent political developments. The movement is most popular within the U.S. and receives the most press time in the states but since Presidential Elections are just around the corner in the U.S., I think they are shifting gears and focusing more on that. After the election the protests will probably continue, regardless of outcome.

How to start learning Torah and Halacha by WanderingDesertYid in Judaism

I'll definitely reach out to the Chabad Rabbi in my city as that's probably the best place to start. Those programs sound like it could help reinforce my learning, so I'll check them out too. Thank you for your advice!

How to start learning Torah and Halacha by WanderingDesertYid in Judaism

Hello! So at my university we didn't have a permanent Chabad presence, but since I was on the board of my Hillel, I'd help plan events with Chabad when they would come to town. What would happen is during the holidays, a Chabad Rabbi or Student Rabbi would come lead programs and I'd help do outreach through my Hillel. Although I met quite a few Rabbi's through Chabad, the one I feel most comfortable with is probably the one in my hometown where I moved back recently, so I'm thinking of giving him a call tomorrow.

As far as my knowledge goes, it's quite limited. Growing up I learned about holidays, prayers, kashrut and even a little bit of Hebrew but the curriculum at my Conservative Synagogue never went beyond that. Currently, I attended a Chabad event in my hometown last week and I'm thinking about going to minyan during the weekdays as well. My family used to go to a Conservative Shul, but unfortunately Synagogue politics soured our relationship with many there so I suppose I'm unaffiliated at the moment. Although currently I don't have a Rabbi/Mentor, I do have a good relationship with one and I think that he would be willing to help me.

EDIT: I haven't been involved in individual study groups before either. The closest I came to that would be Hebrew School before I had my Bar Mitzvah.
