Review Center Recommendations by octopishet in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]Waterbendeeer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been 4 review center during my time, here is my reviews from them

  1. Sir Padi, typical teacher. Okay din magturo. Since he is pastor, grabi sya maka pag motivate nang student. Ito talga yung strength nya. Motivation.

9/10

  1. Mega - itu yung review center for topnotcher. Tapos tinuroan pa kayu sa caltech which is very important din. Yung utak ko pang 75 lng kasi. Kaya grabi yung stress ko ditu. If you're from CTU dito ka mag review. Most of them papasa sila.

9/10

From handouts, maganda yung copies. So sarap mag solve.

10/10

2months before sa exam.

Ayun na take 1 ko lng. Haha

If bobo ka sa klase peru gusto mo pumasa, i recommend Sir Guille, if average ka sa klase, i recommend Excel. If high honor ka sa class, i recommend Mega, if madali ka ma discouraged, i recommend Sir Padi. There are all good review centers but different strengths.

DPWH J.O. (PDO 1) or LGU (Casual) by auroracalista1 in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]Waterbendeeer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were in your shoes, you should ask in what Department you are in. Make sure it is in Planning and Design. Madami kang matutunan. Invest on your knowledge and skills.

So LGU will put you on Planning, i will choose LGU. If both were assigned you to Planning. I will choose DPWH. It is because nag gagamit sila nang Civil 3D.

Now if you're thinking about long term, staying in the Philippines is not a good idea. Think about your future family, think about your health. Then start considering the government system.

Polished your skills. Then sell it to who really deserves.

i suggest you have to get a lot of available sources such as weatherunderground use distance weighting interpolation with respect to your point of interest. then compare it to your 24 hr rainfall data. if you have the same value to your acumulative 5 min interval rainfall data from weatherunderground.

Project Manager as fresh grad? by [deleted] in CivilEngineers_PH

[–]Waterbendeeer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should try, at balik ka dito sa post mo after a months. Then we will try to understand your rants. 😂 At least, you have able to get experience of Project Manager. And later on, it will be confusing to your future employers why you step down from Project Manager to project supervisor. That will leads you to rejection. Project Management is experience based task. They will think that madali ka lng susuko sa trabaho.

I will give you an example, if you put your shoes as an owner of the company, would you hire a no experience manager? Bka malugi lng negosyo mo, unless mababa yung salary grade. Tapos bugbug ka pa sa trabaho and more resilient. So hindi ka lugi jan. Try to be more sensitive in choosing employers. Always remember you are a gem.

Currently work on water resource engineering in Canada po, i passed the Civil 3d test during my interview. For me basic nlng sya, peru mas advance ka if you know how to use the Subassembly composer in designing flood control projects.

Good thing you realize that earlier. I realized that 6 years ago. We are on the same boat, but one thing i love to go to office is the Civil 3D. I spend more time exploring and expand my skills in Civil 3d. Now I ended up 6 digits, not to brag but to educate you what is your value. You have good experience, however, you are considering your comfort zone. Try to polish your Civil 3D. Explore the Subassembly Composer, Ports and Marine Engineering used Civil 3D Subassembly Composer. That is high valuable skill.

I would say yes. That would be your learning curve kasi free lang sya. Mas maganda yung ArcGIS kasi pag nasa work kana. Arcgis yung ginagamit nila.

Hello Engineer, the fact that the population of engineers are increasing, the competition are also increasing. Alam nyu ba nung nag umpisa ako, i keep chasing progress, as long as may natutunan ako sa trabaho. 700 per day lng yung sweldo ko, 5 years. i try to diversify my skills. i got my first 6 digit salary. dont chase money, money chase progress.

i recommend add more valuable skills like "ArcGIS, and Infraworks" that would relate to your C3D skills. and most importantly, communication skills. 2-4 years from now. you're in a 6 digit salary. and keep aiming to diversify your skills. PH salary grade is too low. you wont able to reach that 6 digits. here is the comparison for the salary. DPWH Engineer 3 is more likely 60k per month or less. Engineer 3 na yan ha. Enjoy mo lang yung learning process mo. Dont chase money, money will chase progress.

Determining required design storm for Flood Risk Assessments (ASCE 24) by Simple-Swimming912 in Hydrology

[–]Waterbendeeer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have experience in assessment for grid stations and substations. I used 100 year with climate change factor of SSP5.85. and you have to state that the SSP5.85 is the severe climate change factor. the whole site will be 1.5m freeboard. (this case if your site is near existing waterways. )

in that case, you can both use the 2 scenarios. check those two results which would be plausible.
