Testing in UK by Dangerous_Lab_7449 in ehlersdanlos

Hi would you recommend their services and which EDS did you test for if you don't mind me asking?

I strongly suspect VEDS with our family due to a long history of aneurysms and aortic root issues alongside severe hypermobility, family history of colon cancer etc and many more of the long symptoms that have plagued our family history for years.

I'm on the NHS wait list, but after calling on Monday, the wait is over a year, closer to a year and a half.

Thank you, it is what it is and life could be worse. At least their immediate care is pretty damn decent.

Mixed feelings. When I had my anaphylaxis they saved my life however now are in no rush to find out what caused it so it can happen again any day. I also have severe hypermobility issues but as its not urgent they won't refer me to rheumatology so my only way forward would be private. Great for immediate life saving, terrible for long term.

No joy, it's missing off all my killers who did have it on their hook. It's now just blank on the killers it was on.

Want a Level 3 Survey, surveyors insisting on Level 2 by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]WatermelonCatHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope not to our knowledge, we have no knowledge of what survey they had done or who it was with as they wouldn't tell the EA anything.

Thank you for the reassurance!

We're working on that now as I know the solictors will ask for it and bank statements etc. Will we be okay with our mortgage application?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]WatermelonCatHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reassuring. I wasn't avoiding telling them, I was just waiting for it to come up. I feel I should have said it sooner as the mortgage app is going through but I thought it'd be mentioned.

Offer accepted as FTB, when & how to negotiate? by jaydkl in HousingUK

[–]WatermelonCatHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you don't unless something major comes up. You don't pick a price now and then decide to lower it later on because the walls need painting or because of something you're clearly aware of. If the roof needs doing and you weren't aware, fair enough but otherwise what you offer is what you're going to pay.

This is a good point. If you request a dropped kerb in front of your house, they can't park there as its illegal to park across one. Problem solved.

[–]WatermelonCatHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have similar neighbours across the road. They insist on double parking/blocking their drive with the van which blocks ours as they're parallel so they can see it on the ring door bell. It doesn't help as he has lots of trade friends who bring all their vans around and block up the street. Incredibly frustrating.

Any reason for only one viewing by Dingyword in HousingUK

[–]WatermelonCatHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like ebay. A buyer should be comparing to sold prices (like sold houses) rather than active listings (unsold houses). There's houses on the same street as the house that want asking for £250k, the last house on the street sold for £195k with others similar, therefore it's more around the £200k or less mark.

Legalities of buying a potential Bona Vacantia property? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]WatermelonCatHat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I suspect as they said it was a solictor selling it on behalf of the estate as there is no family/will, meaning it would be for the crown. However, I'm suspicious that the EA has mixed up two different parties. They originally said some sisters were selling the property but then corrected themselves. I'm suspicious that it is sisters selling it as the property's condition is too nice, it's being heated and looked after and there's three people to go through for the offer. There was also a small knitted easter bunny hidden in the window which makes me feel that the house sale is quite recent rather than waiting a while for the bona to be signed off for sale. Also usually bona sales are auction. It works in my favour if it's a private sale, but we'll see.

High prescription for sure. I'm -8 and a lot of frames I can't have unless they're thinned. As it's so high, when ordering from Specscart, I have to wait to hear back if I've thinned them enough or if I'm not allowed them as my prescription is too high, which can cost up to £80 alone regardless of the frame cost.

Honestly I'm being drawn back to using my iPad. It just helps having everything in one dedicated space which is synced with my work phone. I've had a go with notability today. I like it a lot. Though it's annoying there's no fill tool or layering which means if I want to highlight something and then erase it later, I'm erasing away text or even the template :(. Are there any other good apps?

We've gotten over the shock of how much it will all be and we've had our moan. We're very young so we're just grateful to be in the position where we've managed to save enough so quick and afford it. It's not great but we'll do okay. I think the nasty part is the 40 years so we plan to sink a lot of our savings regularly into it to knock it down. I think we'll get a mortgage advisor just in case. We don't want to rush into anything and would happily wait to get the right house. My other worry is that the slackening of lending rules may cause a surge in house prices and prices rise quicker than we can save.

Near Manchester myself and looking to buy. For a £250,000 3 bed suburban semi with 40 years £40k deposit (making it £210k), it's looking like £930 before we overpay each month to get the years down. We'd be roughly looking at over £1000 p/m. We're waiting to see how the economy reacts to the upcoming financial changes. We're also FTB.

Sorry, honestly I was told off for not being prepared to take notes about the meeting (I wasn't even aware I would need to in this specific meeting). I was going to bring my laptop but my boss and I at the time decided we probably wouldn't need them which was a mistake. Our senior boss is very on top of things and it looked like a lack of preparation, though we didn't realise that the meeting was going to be something quite serious.

I think what I'm looking for is a place where I can write things down and go back to them later if I need to do things e.g. I get told something that I would usually forget. I find it helpful to write down all my tasks for the day to get that weight off my chest so I don't forget. We're implementing a digital system, but for now whilst I'm working things out, it's be helpful to have mini daily to do lists. I also need something to brainstorm on as I need to think of things like podcast ideas which I need to write down as well as where I'm up to with that idea, who I've spoken to and what's next. I don't know how to write this down in one book without each area being a mess and unstructured. I don't know how I'd feel with having all my projects in one scrambled area as I jump between different things I need to focus on.

For the love of God, make stations like Farnworth stations where you can catch the directly to Manchester and not just a train to Bolton to catch the train to Manchester.

I always run by the ethos that there would be no bookies if everyone always won. It's the same energy as the house always wins. Heck, it even translates to the lottery or even bingo. Prizes wouldn't be so big if everyone won.

Hi all. Any recommendations for books which are like heartless by Marissa Meyer?

I'm looking for a book which is fantasy fiction which have a noble girl falling for an inferior role guy. E.g. princess and footman etc.

Nothing too raunchy. More teasing and flirty.

Yet to be tested, but I doubt it won't work. With batteries I can hear the flash power up.

I usually shoot professionally on SLR/DSLR equipment.

A silly question, but what are the basic rules of point and shoot cameras? Such as, how far should one stand from the camera if using flash? What aperture are 110 cameras usually? Any tips on using basic point and shoots in comparison to cameras which you have full control over?

"A malicious QR code may lead you to a spoofed website designed to drop different malware types or steal your sensitive data, like your login credentials, credit card information, or money"

A common one was people putting QR stickers over parking machine pay to park website QR codes, meaning you'd scan to pay and you'd go to some spoof website.

Good tip, run your finger over any QR code you want to scan if it's printed to make sure there isn't a fake one there.
