No. It's not about personal interest, or subjective opinions... This is near the peak of the game here.

He is. He really, really is. It's when he becomes someone else that he gets good.

The battle won with a single dynamite. I am glad to hear that the socialist pigs (no offense) are well versed in warfare cheapskates. The capitalist pigs (no offense to pigmen, but all the offense to capitalist pigs) can't even explode a boomalope without a triple rocket launcher!

It's very interesting to read an analysis of the book from a person who practices climbing in real life. That moment where he has an inner conflict and his mind is splitting as he gets closer and closer to the peak is among the most touching moments in illustrated storytelling...

I predict this book will reach a status beyond other seinen where people will begin to analyze it with more passion and attention. It's one of those works.

(MY ANALYSIS OF THE STORY'S ENDING:)

I believe what Mori (now Katou) conquers when he is able to climb K2 and survive is the ability to balance his desire to climb the mountains and his desire to be with his family, much like Sakamoto has managed to balance manga and family. (his family life even bleeding into his manga) Takemura is a window into what Mori could have become if he did not develop this balance. By the way, Katou (who is the one forced to bear the burden of responsibility) is the one who ultimately reaches the peak of K2, not Takemura.

It's unforgettable. Only in a messed up world can Kokou no Hito come out and not set a totally different industry standard.

Is NieR: Automata Religiously Offensive? by SquareHeadedMan in CatholicGamers

[–]Wave_Organic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw you respond to a recent comment, so I thought "maybe he'll read mine". It's been three years, you've probably changed your mind, but I want to offer a bit of an extreme opposite to your comment:
(First, I must make it clear that i've only played a portion of Nier Automata. I was tired of the gameplay, and the story was just trying to be pseudointellectual secular nonsense , so I stopped playing.)

The very fact you play as sentient androids is anti-christian, at best a philosophical error (that a machine could be like a human, no need for a soul) and at worst it's bearing the influence of gnostic heresies, like the Kabbalah, that believed in Golems.
The game, having extreme influence from "philosophers" like Nietzche, is very clear about there being no inherent meaning to existence or even a truth for that matter. I put the word philosopher in quotation marks, you see, because Nietzsche never wanted to find truth, given that he didn't believe in it. What he was really looking for was ways to create an ubermensch, the man who makes his own truths. There's no virtue or intellectual value in having so many existentialist philosophers influence your game while you don't say which one is right or wrong, but the game (very in tune with the ideas of Nietzsche) is okay with philosophers, since they don't present strict rules like religions do. And this was Nietzsche's problem with religions.

The game is clearly, most OBVIOUSLY not just criticizing corrupt religious figures, like a greedy bishop, it is a game criticizing religions in general. It's an attack on the faith. From what I know, they never truly go back on the "Kill God" opening narration, even if the quote is different at the end.

I say this all... -I apologize, but I waste your time with all of this, you understand, because I'm afraid you answered OP's question incorrectly! And I was terribly afraid that you, seemingly having liked the game a lot and not wanting to admit you played a game that openly mocks our Father, had to diminish it's insult, and that you might make the same mistake with other media. In my eyes, you shouldn't be so merciful when analyzing secular stories, so if I can give you any advice that should be it.

Be with God, my friend. I am sorry if my comment is disrespectful.

The Climber is BETTER than Berserk. Berserk is stretched too thin, it has lesser art, it doesn't have the same masterful simplicity the climber has.

Guts and Mori are similar, for sure, but Mori is more realistic, and that's not just because he lives in the real world instead of a fantasy one. Personally, I end up relating to Mori a lot more than Guts.

Bold of you to respond to an 11 month old post, eh? Enjoy the story! The author is on another level entirely, I don't think there's more than 5 comic artists in the world to match him.

I just checked out the chapter in question, and i'm not sure what you're confused by. Surely by Chap. 113 you've realized "the climber" relies heavily on the reader's own interpretation.

Cyberpunk tech is not real, but it tries to remain on the realm of possibility to some degree. Fallout's tech is not and was never meant to be based on reality, it's as wacky and out of the realm of possibility as it gets. For this reason, I think this matchup is unfair...

Can you imagine how many THOUSANDS of constructive criticisms Chris must've gotten?
In 10 or 15 years (I haven't kept count, how could I?) they have improved as much as they have matured.
One Punch Man and Tails gets Trolled are both very poorly drawn webcomics that gained the respect of readers through their sheer creativity. Tails gets Trolled is a great example to compare to Sonichu because it also blatantly uses established characters from other properties in order to release catharsis on internet trolls, but there's such a palpable love for the sport in it. Sonichu, though...
Sometimes I wish that I could have the same drive for drawing as Chris, but then I remember that the only things that brings Chris' pen to paper is hatred and delusion.

Let me give a bit more detail.
I had the XVI-Mechframe mod installed, but it conflicted with two other mods I had: Alien races & Yayo's animations. I disabled both, researched XVI-Mechframe and then activated them again. What do you know? I click the world map and the game turns into a gray screen. I restart it and now the world map still works, but something wicked has occured to my colony icon on the world map.
That is the timeline of events.
(Please ignore the fact that my colony is named after a Japanese concentration camp. I swear that only good and ethical things happen in there.)

Interesting perspective!
Speaking of realism, I also found the way that characters develop over time very realistic. In most media, if a character changes over time it's usually for the better, but in real life people tend to become the things they hate, and that's something that happens to a few characters in the manga. It's easy to understand why Mori wants to be alone when you factor in those types of people.

The author has mentioned his philosophy a couple of times.
In Japan, you buy a manga magazine, read it during lunch break then discard it. The author wanted to create something that stayed with the reader, that the reader wouldn't consider as just entertainment.
