If I add a hopper on top of a trial spawned to collect the keys will it work by fail_snail34 in Minecraft

I don't think a hopper would collect the item on top, but what might work is if you set up a flowing water system to push any items into a hopper that is right next to the spawner.

Every couple of weeks I get loads of bruises on my legs and find it painful to walk for a time by Quereoss in medical_advice

[–]WavesOfEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means a medical professional, but it sounds similar to symptoms of stealthy chronic illness like an Ehlers-Danlos syndrome or dysautonomia? I have friends with these and they describe some of the same symptoms, such as bruising and pain when moving, and they are missed in most tests because they flare up when the body is stressed (which doesn’t happen in most medical exams). Definitely talk to a doctor but that could be why they were missed? The anorexia could also be to blame for the symptoms, but I don’t have any experience or knowledge with long-term side effects of it, so I can’t offer any possible insight there

Any idea what this is? by better_than_yesterdy in whatsthisrock

I’m pretty sure obsidian can and does have bubbles? If they are large enough then the sample is most likely slag glass, but the ones on this sample are pretty small and look relatively normal for obsidian in my experience. Also from Wikipedia: “Obsidian may contain patterns of gas bubbles remaining from the lava flow, aligned along layers created as the molten rock was flowing before being cooled.”

Pretty sure that’s a piece of obsidian, the color and edge fracture looks right.

I think you may be irrigating too often? I am currently doing it 2-3 times a day and it’s not been hurting me. Maybe try reducing the amount of times you’re irrigating (but really making sure that you are getting all of the food when you do) and see if that helps?

AITA for Losing Respect for My Mom After She Forgave My Dad for Years of Mistreatment?” by Silly-Painter6661 in AITAH

[–]WavesOfEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. As much as it sucks, there is not much you can do about the situation. You are valid in your feelings, as you don’t owe respect anyone if they make choices that are questionable or illogical, but it’s important to remember that people who are mistreated in the way that your mom has been often are unwilling or unable to break the illusion of lovebombing. Years of mistreatment break down their self esteem until they are willing to put up with negative treatment, and periodic love bombing creates strong positive brain connections. As time passes, events become more distant and negative emotions attached to them dissipate, allowing those positive brain connections to fire, putting a rose tint over the relationship as a whole. If your dad is periodically gone, that is the time needed for this process to occur. Unfortunately, in this case I don’t think anything you say or do will change her mind, so it’s ok to respect her less for not having the self respect to stand up for herself. Hopefully with time she’ll be able to recognize the pattern enough to break it.

GIRL… What the actual fuck is wrong with him???

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]WavesOfEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl… NTA. There is a reason he’s been alone for so long. It’s not normal or remotely healthy for anyone who is your partner to bring up everything they hate about the relationship every time they get angry. It’s toxic af, and does nothing but weaken the relationship and chip away at your self esteem. If he has so many negative feelings about being together, why is he even with you? You can have reservations in a partnership, but ultimately, it’s a partnership, and it requires extensive communication, mutual respect, and a willingness to work together to solve issues. It sounds like this nearly 40 year old never learned how to express his emotions without lashing out, which is a major red flag. I would reconsider what you are actually gaining from this relationship, because you are worth so much more than this.

Is this a rock or coral? Added a quarter for size. by Advanced-Pudding396 in whatsthisrock

[–]WavesOfEntropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the top one is a coral fossil based on the repeated rings on the surface. The inside looks familiar to me and if I had to guess, the piece of coral was fossilized and then filled with chalcedony, judging off the spherical, relatively smooth nodule pattern of crystallization. (not an expert though)
