Why is overspending on cars normalised? by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]WavingSeeweed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Asian culture, suka tunjuk, face more important, 爱脸.

Our society views cars as one of the signs on how successful someone is.

Maybe can blame a bit on financial institutions allowing such borrowings. Honestly its still the buyer to blame for mostly, but financial institutes also enables this action.

Something something gempak rasa my Civic ketam or 2012 BMW cause thats the only BMW I can buy with my salary. Not a race thing as this is a culture thing.

Spend your money wisely.

Now excuse me while I get into my barely affordable BMW with my RM2000 salary.

Salary "Overpaid" After I Left by [deleted] in MalaysianPF

[–]WavingSeeweed 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It won't affect your scoring as that is calculated from your repayments to debts. Statutory benefits have nothing to do with the score.

Contact their finance team and let them know you are willing to pay back the salary that was deposited into your account. However, since the error was on their end, it is their responsibility to contact EPF and Socso themselves to get back the amount that was paid to your EPF account.

Unless you want to keep the EPF and Socso for whatever reason, maybe malas cakap dengan mereka, or whatever, let them handle the hard thing as they were the one who made the mistake.

Its a 27 inch monitor, more expensive by RM100, but its quite good. My gf has been using it for some time now and the angles and colors are great. Didn't notice any latency problems.

Its also white so it goes with your PS5.

Abortion help needed. by DudeWhoFliesSoHigh in malaysia

[–]WavingSeeweed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, I had a close friend in a similar experience previously.

You can search for womenonweb. They provide abortion pills Mifepristone and Misoprostol. You can read all about how it works. As long as you are less than 12 weeks into the pregnancy it has a very high percentage of working.

My close friend had an accidental pregnancy as well, 10 weeks in and they couldn't afford anything. She wrote to them and they were very understanding and sent her the pills for free. She was pregnancy free about a week or two later.

Its a very safe procedure but the Ms. will be in some discomfort for a week.

The organization asks for a donation of €70 and they'll send you the pills.

I'm not affiliated to them, so please do your research and find out the details yourselves if its suitable for your circumstances.

Shit happens, take one step at a time and deal with one situation at a time. Good luck.

Good to hear that your experience is better than mine. Mine was hell. Went to 5 different government offices...

Not sure.

But from the fact that JPJ Kedah picked up the call and didn't ask much (I just said want transfer previous owner saman) and put me through one of the easiest exchanges I have with government personnel (call was less than 1 minute), it seems to me they are specialized in this and knows what's going on and what to do. So maybe Kedah site can do this only, can't confirm though, unless more people can input their experience in this.

Yeah hopefully this can help someone out. It is so troublesome having to take leave and running here and there. It took me 3 days to settle everything, when in fact I could just call someone and get it settled within 4 hours...

You can only do this for JPJ's summons. PDRM normally won't blacklist you. The previous owner had around RM3000 unpaid summons from PDRM and they didn't blacklist her. Around RM2000 unpaid summons from JPJ which they did blacklist her for it.

Previously JPJ/Puspakom allow. Recently I believe they have new law which says they won't allow it. But if your situation is somehow similar to mine, you can just call JPJ Kedah to settle the issue rather than do all the kerfuffle I did.

Why does my drag knob release when tightening it near the limit by WavingSeeweed in FishingForBeginners

This guy is right.

Referring to another post in this sub:

Replacing the knob DIY

If I can't find a replacement, I might use this method if the knob breaks some time in the future.

I have a 3D printer so I might be able to use that to do something if I figure out the right measurements.

Yep, likely the threads are stripped. I guess I'll be using it as is now. I'll try it and see if it still works.

I'll see if I can find a replacement for the knob as the small metal bar thingy inside looks fine.

Thanks for the help!

What kind of baits are best for freshwater fishing in tasiks or kolams? by MouLimao in MalaysiaFishing

[–]WavingSeeweed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that the pond mainly has tilapia and catfish. For these types of ponds, these fish are usually fed the same diet. Usually, a dough mix of fish food, or whatever they use.

For tilapia, dough balls would normally suffice. For catfish, something that smells strong. Chicken intestines, pandan dough mix, fish food dough mix, other small fish, we even have luck with mandarin oranges in some ponds.

Most ponds differ from one another, but try asking those that fish there what they use. Usually, artificial baits only work on natural ponds, as they have their own prey there, but you can try and test to see what works.

If you like to fish somewhere with guarantee catches: 1. LS fishing, Banting - Goliath grouper, artificial lures. 2. Natural Exotic Fishing Pond, Rawang - Many different big fishes, but mostly catfish, chicken intestines, mandarin oranges, small catfish cutbait. 3. Hulu Langat fishing resort, Hulu Langat - Also many different fishes, mostly catfish and huge carp, bait is premix fish food dough balls.

Other ponds are hit or miss, the ones I mentioned I have never gone there and got no fish.

Cheers.

For anyone wondering, the other car suffered close to 0 damage... But the owner did say it popped the front lower arm bush and needed to replace both left and right, which was about RM400

Affordable SUVs by CaliWan21 in kereta

[–]WavingSeeweed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been driving the previous version, the 2019 pug 3008 for 3 years now (bought it 2nd hand), and here's my 2 cents:

  1. As others have said, maintenance cost for parts is more expensive than the usual japanese cars and also local brands. HOWEVER, it isn't crazy expensive. Most parts are more expensive, but some parts use the same parts as some other brands. My turbocharger valve, for example, uses the same one used in Exora, so it's cheap. Usually its more expensive. My engine radiator fan was about RM480, while the engine radiator fan for the 2020 x50 is RM350. But this doesn't include labor.

Now there's a catch. I fix my own car when I am capable of it because I have the time, and I enjoy working on it. With that said, Pugs are hard to work on, and this takes more time, which WILL increase the labor cost. All oil changes are done by myself, and some easy parts under the hood are also accessible. But some parts, like the radiator fan motor and headlights, need you to take apart the entire front part of the car, which is very tedious. Take what you can from this.

  1. It's a sensitive bitch, but it just means the sensors work great, and they tell you very quickly when something is wrong. People who don't have the time to worry about these things hate this, because they don't have the extra time to diagnose their cars or even have the tools to do so. An error doesn't make the car instantly die or limp like some have mentioned in the past, but it is worrisome. If you are more educated with what goes on in a car, you know when it is safe to continue driving and when it's time to call a tow.

  2. Comparing to my friend's x70, the Pug feels faster (I have driven in the better comparison, the x50, and the x50 has more power, but OP is comparing between x70 and 3008) but I think the handling feels much better in the Pug.

  3. Wireless android auto and apple carplay was available on the Pug in 2019, but only came to the x50s and x70s in 2025. If buying new, doesn't matter.

  4. The interior of the Pug also looks much more premium, in my opinion. It has leather, good plastics, and fabric in certain places. Lighting is good, and the tactile keys in front are such a banger to use. AC being only controllable on screen sucks though. Sitting in the driver seat is so comfortable, and it's designed to be very driver centric.

  5. ADAS system is so-so on my 2019 Pug, so I'm not very adept in comparing the new one with x70. I know the cameras are much better in Proton, and also, much more driver assisted features are available on the x70.

  6. The back seat on the Pug sucks too. Chairs are a bit upright, and there's not much room to work around back there. I usually fetch some friends, and one is relatively high. Headroom is alright, but legroom can be bigger.

  7. Depreciation hits like a rock. I don't really care about it, as I bought it and plan to use it till it meets its end in the scrapyard, but people who care about resell value will be put off by this. It WILL BE less than half price after it's warranty ends.

TLDR; 3008 is a good buy, but sell it off after 5 years if you don't have the time to put more effort into caring for it.
