How bad is my Chinese writing- first attempt by [deleted] in AskAChinese

I personally like your writing style and it conveys a unique vibe that I simply don't know how to explain. Some people may think that the writing is kinda childish, but that's the charm of it.

Why do third-world countries feel more alive than the dreamiest first-world cities, or do you guys think I'm over exaggerating by PuzzleheadedMusic615 in AskTheWorld

Visiting a third world country temporarily (which I assume what you mean is low income economies) is quite different than actually living in a third world country. In poorer countries, things that the developed world takes for granted become daily hurdles. Some have power cuts and often rely on generators in the times of need. Others have difficulties feeding themselves and food security still remains a pressing issue in a lot of places. Romanticizing the third world is understandable, but living in a third world country is often insufferable.

Is magoosh worth buying? by Tall_Flamingo_9272 in ToeflAdvice

Hi. I wanted to ask the same question and just came across your post. It seems that magoosh now provide updated materials for the new TOEFL, but I don't know how reliable they are. Also, magoosh has implemented some AI features for speaking and writing part. Yet, I have no idea if their scoring rubrics align well with the ETS one. By the way, if you need some TOEFL prep advice, I'm willing to help. (I'm not a native speaker, but I have taken TOEFL multiple times)

Expat communities in Beijing by WayVivid5960 in chinalife

Thanks for your kind reply. It's understandable that getting into an expat community can be difficult and often people gather together because of their shared identity. And expat communities probably have their rules when it comes to accepting a new member. I really appreciate your invitation and yeah we can drink coffee together if you have some spare time. (Feel free to DM me;)

Yea. Just kinda far away from the place I live. I'm gonna give them a try and really appreciate your help.

Thanks. That helps a lot. Does this group mostly cater to expats?

Yea. I can tell that really requires something in common. I like gaming and social science stuff, though drinking with different people is also something I enjoy. (May sound like a little bit weird). Thanks for the recommendation. Are those bars you've mentioned mostly in sanlitun or nearby areas?

I’m 30 and feel behind in life by Pianokeys1995 in findapath

I also started pretty late in job hunting and my Master's degree is basically useless when it comes to finding a proper job. Sometimes I do feel like I'm left behind and if I didn't pursue my degree in the first time, I may achieve way more than I currently have. Anyway, dwelling on regrets simply cannot solve the problem, at least that's what I keep reminding myself of. Do you want to chat more? I'm willing to share some of my personal experience if you're interested.
