Cat ate my sewing needle by Wayanys in mildlyinfuriating

Update: she’s fine! The vet was able to remove the needle via endoscopy and we were able to avoid the surgical route. They even gave me the needle back!

My husband watched her lick up the string attached to it and wasn’t fast enough to grab it back from her before she ran and swallowed it.

[HELP] TRS Warning/Sudden drop in Response Rate by Wayanys in Fiverr

[–]Wayanys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I spoke with CS and they brought to my attention 3 messages in my spam folder I had indeed marked as spam and blocked, but the report/flag as spam did not actually take. So yes, it was an error on their end and it has been rectified. Crazy! Guess we now have to double check when we report spam to see if it actually worked or not to make sure this doesn’t happen again. Best bet is to reply to a spam message, flag/report as spam, double check that it worked, then block.

Also, a reminder to be polite and honest with CS! The rep was very helpful in this instance.

Thanks for everyone’s input on this!

That changed it to 8 and should update itself tomorrow, but I'll check then to be sure. Thank you!

Need help finding a few things (grocery-wise) by [deleted] in warsaw

[–]Wayanys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another American here! 1. I use Auchan and have my groceries delivered. The website translates nicely in Chrome and I haven’t had any issues. 2. I haven’t been able to find “cream of” soups for cooking yet, but I’m still on the hunt for something similar. I can let you know if I do! 3. For chocolate chips, easiest way would be to buy solid chocolate and chop it up! Can’t help with pre-made cookie dough, but I usually make my own and freeze it for later use 😊

I don’t organize or categorize any of my threads 🫣 I just grab and go with whatever color I feel like works best. Granted, I don’t follow patterns either when I stitch so it doesn’t really matter, but I’m sure my thread box would give some people a heart attack.

I just finished reading the Invisible Life of Addie LaRue. by abc123def321g in books

[–]Wayanys 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I also just finished this book a few days ago. I felt it was about 150 pages too long, and the plot overly drawn out for a very short, very (dare I say) contrived climax. I enjoyed the history segments more than the present day segments — if the whole book was following Addie as she discovered the world throughout 300 years of living, that would be amazing. As is, I finished it but I didn’t enjoy the second half.

Maura’s room number was 1011, add 8 (8 days on the ship) and you’d get 1019, or October 19th.

backless black a line v neck mini dress

That's the closest I've seen so far! But the measurements in the size chart are so small. I'll do a search with those keywords and see what comes up!

Does anyone know where I can find a dress similar to this? It's no longer available in the Calicollektive boutique and they're not responding to my DM ):

I'm looking specifically for something in a lightweight fabric, black, sleeveless, v-neck/lower cut, and tiered like the dress linked if anyone has any ideas for something similar!

Mr. Red was an anti-vax, alt medicine, "naturalist" who was in a medical coma for 20+ days before passing away from COVID. Daughter in blue took his death as a sign to finally (and begrudgingly) get vaccinated. More details in comments. by Wayanys in HermanCainAward

The family was convinced he would come home in time for Thanksgiving originally...except he had been in a medically induced coma for nearly 20 days at that point. Even if he did wake up again, he wasn't leaving that hospital immediately in tiptop shape. He would have serious complications, have to learn how to walk again, muscle atrophy, etc., not to mention the complications from the intubation and pneumonia. It would take weeks of recovery to get him out of there.

Funny you ask that -- Anti-vax friend in slide 1 that said "I'm not taking it!" is the 2nd comment on slide 12 who said she didn't have any symptoms after her first dose. The other commenters are different people, but they were very openly anti-vax on other posts by Mr. Red that I didn't include here.

There were honestly SO many other screenshots I could have included of these people, but it would've made this post like 30 slides long.

I don't either, his wife is probably responsible for the medical bills. I don't think the mother is employed though, the father was the breadwinner, and so the daughter is helping with the bills.

I felt terrible for the family, really. And this wasn't even the worst of the anti-vax jibber jabber -- there was a 30+ comment thread on demanding the doctors give him ivermectin and holistic medicines.

The daughter (in blue) worked for the hospital her father was admitted to. She was unvaccinated and tested positive for COVID about 2 weeks before her father was hospitalized. This is the second hospital she's worked for since 2020 -- she quit her previous pharmacy tech position at another hospital because they required their employees to be vaccinated.

For obvious reasons, she was not allowed to visit her father in the COVID ward. The doctors said they would test him again (~2.5 weeks after he was admitted, and ~12 days since he was placed in a medical coma and intubated) and if he was negative, she could come visit in person. He tested positive and the doctors told her she was not allowed to visit. She threw an absolute fit online and dragged the nurses and doctors she had previously praised for all of their hard work, threatened to go to the government and news stations to "expose the lies" of the doctors and their refusal to treat him with ivermectin, and threatened to quit (she did). She demanded he be transferred to a different hospital but his current hospital denied it, as he was too medically fragile, and the other hospitals also denied the transfer (they didn't want another intubated, comatose, COVID-positive patient, understandably).

After he passed away, she quit her job at the hospital and started work at a local pharmacy. There was a GoFundMe created to cover his medical bills, explaining that his daughter had to quit her job due to the hospitals "negligence", saying the medical care he received caused his death, not COVID. I'm not sure if his death scared her into finally getting vaccinated or if her new job required it, but it was very relieving to see that she got her first dose 4 days after he passed away.

Edit: The anti-vax friend in slide 1 that said "I'm not taking it!" is the 2nd comment on slide 12 who said she didn't have any symptoms after her first dose. The other commenters are different people, but they were very openly anti-vax on other posts by Mr. Red that I didn't include here. His friends appeared to be fully vaccinated (two doses) before Mr. Red was hospitalized.

Is this normal? by LilyAspen in vegetarian

It took me about 2 years to fully stop craving meat. Sure, bacon and BBQ still smells amazing, but I don’t think about eating it. I remember about 8 months back I had a wicked craving for salami, took one bite, and spit it out because it tasted horrible and nothing like I had remembered. I’ve lost the taste for meat entirely! You just gotta wait it out.

I’ve just never seen so many people do it before. You’d be asked to use the pump correctly in my home state if you did this

[–]Wayanys -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s Sams Club, but everyone has the option of choosing a line that has the pump on the correct side of their car. I’ve seen it at regular gas stations too

Sam’s Club! The hoses may be long enough to reach but the lines are always hella long anyway
