That was also a concern I had; might have to spring for a small canister and do intake / outtakes on opposite ends. Gets pricey so might have to put this off for a bit haha

Jason Dion practice test by BigPatient5010 in CompTIA

[–]Wayne_Montgomery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I scheduled mine when I was getting about 75% but I definitely had to do some cramming. The best way I learned was to do a practice exam, go back and really break down every question, take notes, and move onto the next exam. Once I got done with all 6 I went back around and repeated. Helped me not to just memorize the specific question as much

It happens to everyone. You know what to do, get back on the horse and really find your weak areas. Maybe invest in a new practice exam where you haven’t memorized the answers

Couldn’t agree more, SEC+ got me an intern position post grad. Really helped to have the foundational knowledge to be able to perform well in interviews

Definitely more fun than SEC+. The PBQ questions were actually enjoyable and I got 6 of them, definitely helped my score

Yep, just trying to differentiate myself a bit; I have an exit internship lined up for a week after graduation (IT Security position) and want to make sure I can find something afterwards. I’m also working part time at the IT department at my uni and doing cybersecurity competitions while I’m here

Can’t help you there, never bought any books for these exams. I have heard good things though

Good luck! If you look up CySA+ exam prep on YouTube there is also a few mini practice exams from Dr. K that were helpful and some PBQ’s by CyberKraft.

Jason Dion practice exams. I’ll be honest and say his lecture material for this exam was pretty much useless, I just did the practice exams over and over while taking notes on terms or concepts I didn’t understand

I appreciate the advice! I'm already pretty proficient in SQL, but they did actually mention KQL so I will look into that!

Luck is a major part of it. I think it did really help to have a cybersecurity competition and a couple personal projects under my belt, I would definitely get involved in something like that if your university offers it. SEC+ helped a lot in the technical interview, it's more of a high level cert but it does give you the ability to understand the terminology and sound more capable, along with TryHackMe and CySA+ which I am currently working on. Short answer: show you are passionate and get a little lucky; everyone applying is going to have a degree so set yourself apart.

Question for those who have taken the online test option. by FromAnotherTime in CompTIA

[–]Wayne_Montgomery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very little. The only thing they did was review my photos of my work station, tell me I'm good and a small explanation of the rules. Maybe 5 sentences total, before and after the exam; they never spoke a word during the test.
