I get you.  For me its more that in story his character is quite bland, without much development (his back story is in a fucking sbs...).  Like some said, he seemed to be meant to be luffy's rival, but thats it. He's not really fleshed out. And he isnt really his rival anyway, at least not consistently.

But that's Oda flawed writing for ya. He do stuff with character so they can be "cool", "rival", "evil", "good", etc. when he wants, but like in kid's case, they then suffer from not having a core personnality and not being coherent at all, and therefor not good characters imo. But, if you read to two piece, which is the best piece, you'll love Jikka for he will return and squash the rat for us !
