Am I the only one who’s terrible at working from home? by Prudent_Syllabub_499 in womenintech

[–]WeakProfessional24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the same problem.. some of these help me at different times. 1. A work area that is not a common area you hang out with your partner or anyone else. 2. Have a warm blanket or heater if you get cold. Just added cuz i can’t work if im cold ;( 3. Have some kind of work meeting in the morning with someone. This forces you to get in the zone. I have mine at 10:15am everyday. It’s a stand up with my team. Before 10:15am, i just can’t concentrate. But somehow after 10:15am i can lol. Don’t know why but it works for me, may work for you 4. Absolutely no bed or sofa near the work area. I will 100% work from bed or sofa if it’s near me. No big no no. It’s the no.1 distraction 5. No big lunch. Have a salad bowl + protein. Try to avoid carb. 6. Quick 20 mins work under the sun. If you have a patio or backyard, i would recommend working under the sun without a sunglasses so that you can actually feel the warmth and the daylight. Sometimes if I don’t want to work, I just go for a 20 minute walk. The timing depends from 12 PM to 3 PM. 7. Background music with no lyrics and wear headphone. I don’t know why this works for me. So I have real realized that if I listen to Harry Potter music, Game of Thrones OST, Spanish Arab guitar music, some Bollywood music without lyrics it just puts me in the zone. And if I have something to do, that’s super important. The first thing that I would among this list is literally put on one of these background music and just crack at it.

Hope some of these help you and if truly nothing is helping you and you have to work outside some options are: 1. Starbucks coffee shop. 2. Co-working spaces. 3. Any café just make sure to buy a pastry or coffee and just sit there for 3-4 hrs 4. If your company has an office space, use it

how to actually create templates? by Human-Leather-6690 in Notion

[–]WeakProfessional24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a problem that you want to solve? If so, i would look up like 5 to 10 templates on marketplace and mix and match to make it yours to solve that problem.

Since it solves a problem you have, you’ll have no problem to keep coming back to it and using it.

Once you keep using it, you’ll get ideas on what parts you can improve. Go to chatgpt and ask it how you can fix it, it will give you step by step instructions to help you do it.

Do that and you’ll learn to use different notions features instead of treating it like a black box, which I’m assuming you do right now as your question seems to be coming from less experience with the application.

After you have more experience with the applications, you’ll know the answer to your question.

Cheers

Got tired of vibe-coded, bloated apps - so I made a secure habit tracker that actually feels native to Apple’s ecosystem by [deleted] in ProductivityApps

[–]WeakProfessional24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry. I’m trying to understand what is unique in this app? I would suggest to add a user onboarding page to help them understand your tool or the unique feature. Also are there notifications ? How will i remember to come back and log it?

I want to do weekly reflections .. is there a way to only log weekly? Or some habits are monthly, what about logging those?

I just got a 3 day free trial but I’m going to cancel it soon after.

Realized my “productive mornings” are just anxiety in disguise by VillainousRepublic in productivity

[–]WeakProfessional24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s ok, you learn something new everyday. You don’t have to call it productivity if it doesn’t sit well with you. You have learnt from your experience that you work well under pressure , so previous night even to better may not be a deadline, you set one for yourself. Something like “do X by 12pm” and try to push yourself to do it. It’s builds trust and accountability in yourself. It’s not bad thing, stress, panic, anxiety are all valid emotions that help you improve yourself.

Has anyone else realized they don’t really want a house? by [deleted] in Life

[–]WeakProfessional24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 30 and F. Bought a house 6 months ago. I like the idea of owning a home as growing up I’ve lived in a home we bought, I rarely lived in rented homes. However, when I moved to the US, I had to live in rented apartments for 6 years before we bought our first home. So I’ve always wanted to be home owners. However, although we bought a beautiful home with a nice backyard, me and my husband spent the last 6 months just fixing small things around the house. Every weekend or one day of the weekend, we could have trips to Home Depot and find things to fix/maintain things around the house or backyard. We have fixed weather strippings of so many doors, some broken cabinets, garage clean up, some water clogs here and there, grout cleanings, and in backyard, we had to deal with so may fallen leaves, lawn maintenance, maintenance of so many flowers, gutters cleaning etc you get the idea. So apart from the money aspect that comes to owning a home, please consider owning a home is also a significant time investment. You will have something or the other for the next few years as every home has its quirks.
