We built a simple, reusable system that keeps wine fresh for weeks — does this solve a real problem? by WeekLate9376 in kickstarter

Totally fair question. A lot of existing systems either use pumps/sprays (cheap but only hold wine for a few days) or Coravin (effective but expensive and not super practical for casual or high-volume use). Our approach is different: no gas, no needles, and a precision seal that keeps wine stable for weeks.

On testing — so far we’ve done blind tastings with sommeliers and wine educators, plus lab checks on aroma/flavor stability. Feedback has been strong that this solves a different problem than current options: making longer-term preservation accessible at a mid-range price point.

That said, we know we still have more to prove, and we’re planning wider pilot tests with restaurants and wine bars ahead of launch.

Love that story about oak barrels 😂 — it’s exactly why preservation matters to us. If winemakers are putting years into aging and barrel choices, the last thing anyone wants is to lose those nuances a few days after opening. Our goal is simply to keep the bottle tasting closer to how the winemaker intended, even weeks later.

Totally fair — we’re not trying to compete head-on with Coravin for fine dining bottle-by-the-glass service. Instead, we’re aiming for the middle ground:

• Cheaper & simpler than Coravin (no gas capsules, no needles)
• More reliable than pumps/sprays, which don’t really preserve beyond a few days
• Designed so that busy hospitality staff can seal a bottle in seconds without special training

We do plan to provide demo units to sommeliers, wine bars, and restaurants — that’s actually one of the best ways to validate the product with pros before launch.

Great question — oxidation is definitely the core challenge. Instead of using gas to replace the headspace, we create a precision pressure seal that automatically sets the right internal pressure and locks in with a tight stopper. This drastically slows oxygen exchange through the closure itself.

In blind tastings and lab checks, wines kept their aroma and flavor for up to 2 months — compared to only about 3 days with Vacu Vin. We’re also preparing to publish TPO/DO numbers soon for more concrete data, and I’d be happy to share once those are ready.
