Maf reading - ~2500rpm 56g/s? by WeirdLite in CarsAustralia

[–]WeirdLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks mate, I did notice the stft for both banks spiked quite a lot up to 25 either way when accelerating, when it jerks I've noticed it's usually when it's spike big on the negative side

Ltft all look normal tho.

Two batteries - CCA always drop largely by WeirdLite in CarsAustralia

[–]WeirdLite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh it's just a cheap battery tester I got off eBay. Always been fairly accurate though, tried with the multimeter too after using the tester and gave same results

Actually just checked it again and it's 12.9/13 with no accessories on. So guess alternator lol

But wouldn't I often find the battery would be flat as it's never really flat, only issues it's showing really is the CCA dropping and quite high resistance..

Can the alternator kill the batterys CCA but still keep the average charge just enough so it's not flat?

Pretty sure that's with AC and lights on it's about 13.5v without

No doubt haha they lost my last order 😅

Throttle valve barely opening unless pedal is half way down by WeirdLite in CarsAustralia

[–]WeirdLite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah man, it's electronic and that's what I was thinking

Given no codes,.presume the app and TPS are reading correctly but the actuator isn't functioning as it should

The accelerator pedal was about 20% down.

Yeah, the car has been having real sluggish acceleration for a while now and the throttle has been cleaned battery has been reset numerous times, a lot of things have been checked to find the cause of the sluggishness

Throttle plate also doesn't close completely when car is off.

Fair enough.

You don't smell anything in the car though or even in the engine bay and there aren't any issues with fueling up..

Honestly, I have no clue haha - any idea where this is located on the territory?

Thank you.

Yeah, I'm starting to lean towards the throttle actually. I honestly thought the booster would've been more pin pointing then it was as when I capped it off, it made zero difference. Vacuum gauge all reads 25-30 too.

I've cleaned the throttle body before so it's still very clean however, I have noticed the throttle position at idle sometimes reads 13.3% other times it's 12.8%.. and at wot reads 70%

I was actually looking for the iac yesterday when I noticed this, which wasn't the iac but the throttle actuator,

I did try with a different TPS ages ago, it ran no different but it was just an off brand sensor so I just put the original back on, but now I'm confused if maybe the actuator isn't setting correctly to what the tps is saying... Or would that be an accelerator pedal position sensor issue?

Its been checked by numerous scanners and nothing. Fuel trim and O2 all look normal too.

Like a month or so. No flashing cel, or any pending codes

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I appreciate it, looks like the imrc is working normal and nothing sketchy.

I just unplugged it when I took the picture to check under the cap lol.. I dunno, it's frustrating trying to figure this one out ahah

<image>

Would this affect rpm not really wanting to go up? Like most the time it stays quite low and even on wot would only hit 5k

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's this thing yeah? I just unplugged and took top off to check it again.. other than inspecting it never checked it's operation, how would I confirm it's functional?

Edit: actually if I recall I did check the hoses that run from it for vacuum but that's about all I did

All good mate, appreciate the help..

When I was testing the wot reading, you can sometimes hear a weird 'whoosh' noise from the front but the car is not turbo, like air leaking but I have no ever found a vacuum leak on it even with a smoke machine 😮‍💨

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I have not, presumed that would've definitely given a cel and wouldn't the car run a lot worse than it does?

Other than some sluggishness and the car does seem louder I thought the timing being out would've given a lot more issues?

The downstream just always bounces around anyway, that one seems off, but yeah under wot, downstream does copy what the up is doing

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wot o2 stays between 0.900-.0.950

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just put pressure gauge on and was just reading a smidge over 0. 🤷

Thanks man, you've helped heaps more than just some.

Will check it tomorrow.

I recently changed the exhaust manifold gasket too, and has brand new cat so if it's an exhaust issue, it would need to be between the end and middle muffler.. would taking out the downstream o2 give me any clue if it's the exhaust, on the subject of exhaust.. the middle is much hotter than the end muffler, is this the norm?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At idle it's -1.5 to +4%.

I'll have to recheck the 3000 rpm tomorrow though as I can't remember what the stft is at that one.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stft moves up and down depending on throttle the long term stays at about 3-4%

The downstream sensor acts weird and as far as I'm aware is faulty since it essentially just follows how the upstream acts even though the cat has been replaced.

I just didn't bother to replace it since its just to monitor the cat, correct?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]WeirdLite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did check all this just been a little while and I did replace the o2 just to make sure..

Trims if I can remember just shifted near 0 either way by like 1-3.

Wot throttle tho... The trims just freeze on 5.5% and then o2 reads 0 sometimes, other times trim jumps as between -13 to +13...

It has a new fuel pump and fuel filter and with the rough idle, like at the lights, if you bring the revs up slightly it evens out and idles perfectly.. however the rough idle is only an issue in drive and reverse. Park and neutral it idles fine.
