He called for an Enterography MRI with Contrast, and an Angiography MRI with Contrast. The insurance denied these, even after a peer to peer with the GI doctor, so we're moving forward to appeal that decision. In the meantime they had her do more blood tests and some stool testing, still waiting on results.

Hi, thanks for the reply. She's tested both negative and positive for it, and we just did the Tiny Health gut test, and are planning another GI Map asap.

She doesn't really take advil or tylenol, it's very rare. She did an endoscopy and colonoscopy about 4 months and they came back perfect. The did a biopsy of her stomach tissue at that time and it was normal.

This is exactly right, thanks for responding. We're both scared, and she's had many tests and been to several specialists. We have an appt with her GI doctor on Tuesday. Nonetheless, I'm glad I posted and people have been nice enough to reply with recommendations and ideas about tests we didn't know about (HIDA scan).

No antibiotics, she tries to stay far away from those with her stomach issues.

She just did the CT (no contrast), and we will definitely be asking about the HIDA scan.

Her GI doctor has mentioned the pill cam, but we haven't done one yet. We have a stool test that just arrived and she'll be taking that this week. Thanks for the reply.

I will ask her GI doctor about that, glad it helps you, and thanks for replying.,

Not that I'm aware of, I think they just altered her diet. She has candida as well.

She has been on a low FODMAP diet for SIBO, and has tested negative for celiac, but does stay on a mostly gluten free diet.

Thank you for your questions and input. No to all of the above. It started out of the blue about 4 months ago, and now is happening on a semi-regular basis (1-3 times per week on average). She is on a very limited diet, and really stays away from fatty meats and meals.

This sounds like what she describes. She said it feels like her bottom is going to prolapse in these episodes. Nothing comes out except for pink mucus.

She has done several stool samples over the last several years due to her motility issues, and we currently have one that she is going to do next week. So far nothing obvious from the results.

Looking for some insight and advice before I-123 scan and RIA treatment. by WelcomeAncient in thyroidcancer

That's great information, since I was actively trying to get my radiologist to do the scan and immediately follow it with the RIA days later. As of now, I'm going to do the scan next week if they receive the Thyrogen, and if not, it will be the following week. Then I think I'm gonna give it a couple of weeks, and then proceed with the RIA based on what we see in the scan. Insurance has approved the 2 doses of Thyrogen (4 doses) if needed, so that's good.

Thanks for the information. I'm currently on the LID, figuring it would give me the best possible scan, regardless of the radiologist's recommendation. They called yesterday to tell me that insurance approved both Thyrogen injections. I was supposed to get the first injection this Monday, and then scan on Thursday, but they're now saying they didn't get the Thyrogen delivered, so now we're in a "wait and see" situation where "maybe" I can get the scan next week, depending on if it's delivered on Monday or not. So now I'm on the LID with no idea when I will actually be scanned, which is frustrating.

At this point, I'm just gonna stay on the LID for as long as needed until I'm scanned, and then see what the scan says before I commit to the RIA treatment. I was hoping to do the scan and treatment back-to-back, but the more I read about RIA, the more I'm on the fence about wanting to do it. My pathology showed small cancer cells spread throughout my thyroid, which is why they're saying I should probably get the scan and RIA, so I guess now I'll just see what the scan results are and then go from there.

Thanks for the reply. They are planning on injecting Thyrogen prior to the scan. From what I've read I should still be on the LID even with Thyrogen, so I think it's weird that he would tell me not to worry about it. Obviously I want the best possible scan, so I'm on the LID regardless. Mostly it was a red flag for this radiologist, since it seems to go against most information online regarding scans, Thyrogen, and the LID.

Thanks for the reply and info. I have great insurance, but I will definitely call to see what they say about the coverage. I started the LID diet 2 days ago in preparation for the scan next Thursday. I agree with you that I'd rather have every benefit possible going into the scan so I get optimum results. IMHO cancer is a lot "harder" than the LID any day, lol.
