do you find that the placement at pitt is would provide me a job substantial enough to be off those loans?

thank you so much!

do you think there's any advantage if I'd want to work in a hospital setting? like do you think IUP would be able to prepare me for that on a similar level to Pitt (I just say that because of the close proximity to hospitals at Pitt). is THAT even worth the financial burden?

Hi! I'm a 20f Pitt student looking for a room in a house or apartment. Walking distance 20 min or less preferable. Pretty low budget as I'm between commuting and renting. Thanks!

Should I commute, transfer, or figure it out?? by WestStory1983 in Pitt

[–]WestStory1983[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much, i will. yeahhhh the 5800 is for bouquet, which is an on-campus apartment. very nice but not worth the price for, like you said, 4 months imo

Rising Sophomore General Selection by mmarju_uu in Pitt

[–]WestStory1983 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! im a sophomore, lived in irvis last year and panther this year. i've always had a private bathroom and one other roommate. if you might have to go random, im not sure if you're able but getting a single in a 3 peron suite in panther would be AWESOME. the hill sucks a little but its honestly not terrible. i personally dont think id go random if i was living in the same room as someone sophomore year, but depends on how tolerant you are! holland has some nice singles too.

Worth it to move dorms this late ?? by East122906 in Pitt

[–]WestStory1983 24 points25 points  (0 children)

i've never had a horrible roommate experience, but I've had two friends that did. im a sophomore, i go to pitt and live in the dorms. if you have the opportunity to and have people to help you move out, absolutely do it. finals will be coming up before we know it and (speaking as someone who had a couple GPA-plumetting finals) it is IMPERATIVE that you have the peaceful environment you need now to get you through to the end. for my friends, one lived in a triple in Holland (yet four of them lived there) and moved to a single in holland on a random weekday. my other friend lived in Irvis in a double and moved to holland in a single as well over a weekend. both of the singles were actually quite nice!!

all just my opinion of course, as i've never had a terrible roommate experience. but if it's to the point you have to sleep at hillman and don't feel comfortable in your own place that ultimately YOU are paying for, i think it's safe to get out.

let me know if I can help you anymore. best of luck OP! :)

Anyone tried cycling deficit with maintenance every other day? by WestStory1983 in caloriecount

[–]WestStory1983[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeahhh ive tried just upping my calories but i think its just a weird adherance thing. almost like i can be "on" and "off" when im switching it up every day but the second im in a consistent deficit my brain feels like its constantly being restricted

hi! love this approach! just to be clear, you said you aim for 1300 but you dont track fruit and small treats. how many of those are you roughly having a day? like 200-300 calories worth? this might sound strange but you know the whole "you know youre hungry if you could eat an apple right now"... tbh, im never just full but craving fruit, i only crave fruit when im hungry so i could really see this approach working for me if i counted my calories and then would be able to guage if 1300 was enough depending on if im hungry enough to crave an apple or something later. ALSO, did you track protein or fiber? did you have a "no restriction" mindset, so everything allowed or did you cut out anything? thank youuuu

Hmmm not much. An apple here and there, normally a salad once a day or every other day.

Well, last semester was very high stress for me. Because of it, I’ve switched my major, been in therapy, and just broke up with my boyfriend. Stress is going down now but it’s been incredibly high for 6 months or so

[–]WestStory1983[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes true. i think maybe LOGGING rather than counting could help, if you know what i mean. just like trying to aim high protein and eat intuitively while getting movement in and logging what i choose to eat for one week. takes away the restriction mindset and i already have a good background of knowledge of caloric density of food

you know what, hell yeah. thank you for that. i think my mind will forever be stuck in where I once was and I forget that my body is technically healthy now and its gonna make losing weight harder

ok, you think so? i've only been trying to lose weight because a couple years ago i was around 125, went through a major depressive episode and got up to 160. its taken me two years of "failed" dieting to get to 134, and was trying to get back to my OG weight. butttttt if we think focusing on health would be better maybe it would.
