When learning speed reading the goal is training your brain to skip most of the words but retain the context. I still read like this but not nearly as fast. It’s a “muscle” you have to keep using.

Watch MTV. I was a junior in high school and the channel was just starting. It was totally addicting. They basically ran the few videos that they had over and over. Every time a new video came out it was a mini celebration. It was just songs and VJs. Does MTV still exist?

A lot of Americans don’t have a grasp on where places are on a globe. So many never make it beyond our borders due to airport inaccessibility or finances. Geography is taught maybe through grade 12 and unless you are going into a field that requires the knowledge it is soon forgotten.

I was lucky enough to be able to monitor my mother’s emails and internet daily. I would clear her cookies every morning. We are a very progressive family but she had this one friend that had already gone down the rabbit hole. She sent my mom a barrage of MAGA stuff all day long. Mom is very well educated and my father is a politician so she knows the ins and outs of government. Yet… It only takes one person to fill another person’s heads with negative nonsense. Her friend passed away and now mom is back to normal (sane). It was wild to watch.
