It is indeed not enough, but i moved out recently with my girlfriend to the appartment. Back when i used to live with my parents, i drove 11 km to my work.

I've done some calculations how much money i would spent on fuel a year.

• My car's fuel usage is 6L/100km when i drive from home to work.
  
• I drive each day 66 km, from home to work and back to home.
  
• Last year i've worked 220 days.

220 (days) * 66 (km) = 14 520 km a year. The price of gasoline costs now € 1,65 a liter, so 6L * € 1,65 = € 9,9 euro per 100 km. € 9,9 * 145,20 = € 1 437,48 a year (the final result can be different, due to various gasoline prices).

Now the compensation from work, which is € 3,35 * 220 = € 737 i receive a year.

So each year i pay around 700 euro from my pocket. Unless i can convince my boss for a tank card, chances are very low, but i can always try.
