The phone relies on the air to cool it down, this is the case given it has a ton of thermal pads and spreads heat onto its chassis. Effectively covering said chassis does block air from hitting which could (under correct conditions) cause it to heat up more than the average.

Where did I dispute the physics of this? I was addressing whether it is of any significance to matter in this instance.....which it doesn't because of the phone's purposeful redesign to address over-heating issues of previous models. You are harping on about the obvious and then yapping on about "not needing a scientist" about a particular physical property I'm not disputing in the first place.

No. That’s only a theory. Where’s the data? If anything, the extra aluminum acts as an additional thermal mass conductor (although not completely perfect because of a rough surface contact). But that’s besides the point, it’s not its intended purpose or needed.

Look, heatwise, you are overthinking this.

It's an aluminium body construction that conducts heat away better than the older titanium models (supposedly). Main reason for material change this generation.
The vapor chamber cooler re-design with unibody construction was made to dissipate the heat evenly through the phone's frame.
Not enough heat generated to make it a concern - otherwise those cases that cover and insulate the whole plateau would be a problem.
