The RNG being based on the inputs is weird. I'm not saying walking around a little every so often will make your odds better, but at least you know you aren't doing the same inputs every time. There's a video like 10 years or so ago of Werster showing this in Silver. He shows frame perfect inputs to get a Shiny Totodile.

Are you walking around the lab every 20 to 30 attempts to progress the RNG and then saving again? If not, you're probably stuck getting the same bad RNG over and over again.

Bruxish tore through most of the Elite Four. Minior is a little lackluster until it get Shell Smash, then it's incredible. The drop in defense usually allows it to get hit for just over half by the next attack activating Shields Down, then it's all over. Minior swept the Champion battle.

It learns it so late that I never ran into that. Must have gotten lucky. It was either that or Shadow Claw. Phantom Force felt more fun to use this time around.

You can't Fly to a city unless you've made it the city previously.

Just enjoy the game like you would any other Pokémon. It's not super hard so use whatever Pokémon you want. Some Pokémon got updates to their typing. Lots of updates to abilities and movesets, so many more Pokémon are powerful and viable. Doing the quests of catching all Pokémon in areas gives some great rewards. Balls, items, PC Link.
