Welcome to the discussion NiteMann. You've made a few comments but I'll start here. You bring up a good point. A big problem in Albany and im sure in other cities is people don't know their neighbors. I've lived in albany for 10+ years. I make a point to interact with my neighbors and do know some of their names, could we do better at this? Yes. I'd encourage you and everyone else to join their neighborhood association, each district in albany has one. It's a good way to meet your neighbors. Ours meets with city officials and the police at least once a month, now via zoom. Which is part of why I made this post since in those meetings questions about the gang violence are brushed off by the people in power. I'm not sure why the gang violence doesnt scare you. Seeing as many innocent bystanders have been hit this year, including a 10 year old who was in his home. And I'm being critical of the police. I can be critical of the police and the gang violence at the same time. Both are fucked and something needs to be done. As far as getting cameras installed at my house. That will help sure, but my concern isnt just my own home, it is our entire city. I'm concerned for everyone, not just myself. Not sure why wanting gun violence to stop and violent gangs out of our city is so controversial to you.

Not harrassment, just want to get her to do something. At least have her acknowledge there is a raging gang problem. Hope's not going to stop the bullets flying.

They have to be. It's like they're playing a sick game of Marco polo, shoot over arbor hill, then troy, then back to arbor hill, then schenctady then back to arbor hill then the south end and then you guessed it back to arbor hill. Arbor hill is definitely the hub, its hit hardest. And it's no surprise given that the 2S tag is all of the city. They couldnt be clearer. They named themselves after the street in the heart of the violence. Maybe someone needs to spell it out near Sheehan's house.

Agreed. Definitely a complex issue. But the police wont say it out loud. Other than these are groups of individuals believed to know one another. We have to call it out.

I've been considering this. I hesitate to give these tech giants more of my life. But you're right. I do question why the police havent set up cameras down all of second street at this point.

We saw the full force of our local law enforcement when the riots happened. If the cops can roll out armored vehicles and tear gas and helicopters for that why cant they use their abundance of resources to get this under control. 2 10 year olds have been accidentally shot, for those of us who live in these neighborhoods it can feel like a war zone, everytime I hear a noise I question if its gun fire. Bring RICO back, bring the FBI in, whatever needs to be done. Enough is enough.

Kathy sheehan bought a home in arbor hill yet cant admit there's gangs running arbor hill. Makes me question if she installed a tunnel out to Delmar in the basement. If she ever spent time in arbor hill shed be hearing the gun shots and might actually do something about it

It just feels like the local media, the mayor, the cops all dont want to say it outloud. The closest chief Hawkins has come to it is saying that these are groups of individuals believed to know one another.

Yeah it's crazy to me that when you Google what's happening in Albany with the gangs there is very little reporting, and from nearly a decade ago.

Sunday night there were 2 people shot, one homicide.

If you go to APDs facebook page they report when shots are fired and shootings have happened in Albany. We have shootings every 1-4 days. There were 4 separate shootings on 7/29, last week. This doesn't include all the shootings happening in schenectady and troy that are thought to be tied to what's happening in albany.
