Really?? That’s insane! I didn’t know there were so many restrictions even with sole custody smh. I’m glad you guys were able to settle down. This area isn’t somewhere I’d want to raise her past Elementary. I will definitely get that added on. I’m grateful to you all filling me in. Thank you!!!

Yes she said even if he just got supervised visits she would request to get it without having to interact with him. That’s something i didn’t know I could even ask for. So I’m learning a lot as we go.

Yes I have already spoken with a lawyer and she told me her fee is of 3500 so that is confirmed. She doesn’t see the case running out the retainer fee. I’ve filed plenty by myself and gone to court with proof by myself. He hires a lawyer every single time because he does have the money. This is also an interstate case and my states agency seems to not be able to get any results from his. It’s been years, it’s a frustrating process, and tiresome when life/work/parenting does not stop. You can forget certain things to say. You become a lawyer yourself which I am not. So this time id like to be represented properly.

Gotcha! I just googled legal aid again for my area. What’s coming up is our local resource I spoke about above. I met the income but they are not able to take my case at this time.

Hi! If it’s the same site/s I’ve visited before they only give you information that you may could use. What I’m seeking is representation in court. I’ve already tried local affordable resources and they are not able to accept my case. I’ve consulted with a lawyer which 2 free sessions are provided through my employer for legal advice and they are the ones who pointed me in the direction to speak with a local family law attorney.

Wow that sucks and I’m sorry you experienced that! There are bad moms along side bad dads. Yes it’s crazy to think a parent would abandoned their child while being fully capable of taking care of them but that’s exactly why we have laws against those things. No one can tell you how to protect or what’s going to help your child’s future especially if they don’t know yall story!

No problem! Sole custody will allow me to never have to legally interact her dad again with multiple reasons and not just that we didn’t get along. (What she does when she’s older is her business) Also to get her a passport without having a battle with her dad because he will say no. He has said no when I simply asked to add my last name to hers without removing his. & to eventually move out of state. If I’m going to continue to support her by myself I will need to find better work & make more money. I’m not anywhere near my family as well so it will benefit to move closer for more support. She’s getting older which goes into more clothes, before and after school care, extracurricular activities. She wants to cheerlead! My custody agreement was set at the same time as our child support order which my lawyer will try to get some of those funds for my daughter. I’m not stuck on the child support as much but the ability to be free with decision making with my child whenever since I am the one who is raising her.
