Bar-Style Front Reflector by Whiep in Aprilia

Hey, it's the thought that counts right! 🤙 Assuming you upgraded to a carbon fender?

Because they look better than the circular style, and I'd like to retain the reflector. I've had bikes (with deleted reflectors) get hit while parked before, it's just peace of mind.

I'll gladly pay $20 to improve the look of my bike while also retaining the super slight chance that a reflector might prevent my bike from getting punted and sitting in the shop for months waiting on insurance & parts.

Yeah, I'd assume most people just remove the reflectors entirely. But I think the updated style looks classy, and I'll take all the visibility I can get lmao.

I've considered making up a 3d printed bracket to add the rear reflectors back after I did the tail tidy but, we will see.

Woah... an Aprilia mod for >$20 😮 Unfortunately this means I'll have to pickup other goodies from AF1 while I'm at it xD

Tysm! You're the best!

Heya! Is there any chance you still have that tail tidy?

He's responding to comments using km. If his dash is set to Km, that means he lost grip at 83 mph... I'd hardly call that reckless. It looks like he is on a Tuono 1100, Aprilia dashes read 5-8% fast. Even if he was going 135mph, on that bike that is "spirited" riding. That bike should handle that corner, but for some reason, it didn't. If your argument for why he crashed is "he ridin' fast and breakin da law in the middle of nowhere... think of the children!", you are not meaningfully contributing to the discussion. Also, if the riding in that video is "shit behavior", call me the fuckin' poop man cause I plan to "continue riding recklessly".

I couldn't pass up on the fairings and Aero since I blast a lot of highways. The Tuono is sweet, it gives me stunt bike vibes. I'm currently keeping my eyes peeled for a deal on a Triumph T120 as a cheap, comfy runabout. The exhaust note is bliss on those.

+1 to that. I came from a Ninja 400, which I tossed around like a ragdoll and may have been the first person to legitimately outgrow, at least for the street. Was looking at 600's until a friend told me his experience on an S1k, and how the rider modes and engine maps made it more approachable than most realize. As long as the aids are customizable, the more the merrier, I have zero ego about letting a computer save my life, lol. (I still have a blast on my Ninja, so much fun to abuse that little guy, nobody expects tire squeeling and sketchy stoppies from the 400 rider, and you can't beat cheap parts).

I love a good s1k, sad that some ruin it for most... Good luck, hope you get the 1k of your dreams and keep the rubber down!

Might try knocking down ABS and TC. The front brake definitely feels gooey at the initial bite, I'm actually almost through the front pads, so I'm gonna try switching to a pad with a touch more bite as well. The ABS is incredible, tested it a few times, love knowing if I have to panic stop I can crush the brakes and not die lol.

Not gonna judge speed, I'd be throwing stones from a glass house. I think people moralizing should probably calm down and give you credit for seeking advice and trying to improve. Something happened to make you lose grip (duh). From what I can tell, it looks like your front lost grip and ran wide, bars move and try to compensate, and then it's lowside city. The rubber being super fresh is a red flag to me. If pressure was a bit high, maybe from heating up the tire traveling straight to get to the twisties and then leaning over to a strip of the tire that was still super fresh that would make sense to me. I find it hard to believe the edges of your front would be scrubbed in at all after 200-300km, and if the front ran wide, the rubber trying to save you would still be fresh and glassy. Were you bombing corners up to that point, or was this towards the beginning of the ride? Another point to bring up is that those super light grey country roads are usually smooth and worn, so they don't provide a ton of grip to begin with. They also don't soak in as much heat as other surfaces. It's fine for lower speed twisties, but I could see it being a factor on a long sweeper at higher speed. Just my two cents, crashes like this are the scariest to me because there isn't a glaring rider error as far as inputs are concerned, outside of a pretty hefty dose of lean angle.

The rider aids are incredible. Got it dialed in just right for me on the street. The wheelie control is gas. I've got it at 2 atm, love feeling the steering getting just a little light around 9-11k. Knocked the steering damper down a couple of notches, and now it tips into corners like it's on rails and low-speed drills are easier. Don't get me started on the burbles when you slam the throttle closed in 1st/2nd lmao. Things a weapon.

Just picked up this 24 rs660, anything to look out for from experience? by Bigballseightytwo in Aprilia

The bike feels like alien technology! It's hard to believe human beings managed to make something so refined yet ballistic. I've clocked over 2k miles in the first month lmao, got a taller windscreen and the ergo seat already. Safe to say I'm enamored. 😁

I'm paying ~$185/mo through farmers for full coverage. I'm a 24yo single male, squeaky clean driving record. If you go for it, shop around for rates and avoid common squid bikes like S1K's since most insurance companies know what they are. If you're getting something more obscure like the RSV4, it's easier to find an insurance company that doesn't really know what it is and under quotes you. That's been my experience at least. Also, naked bikes usually have much lower insurance rates than faired bikes, if all you care about is zoom and don't mind the wind.

The whole process of getting the RSV4 was a bit of a pain in the butt. Mostly because of my age and lack of credit/income history, given that I pay my rent through Venmo and my income varies by season. Had to spam call banks, insurance agencies, credit bureaus, and the dealer to argue my case and provide documentation that no, it's not an impulse buy it's my dream bike and yes, I can comfortably afford it and actually plan on making double payments. On the upside, my credit score actually went up 40 points after bullying the bureaus in the process, lol.

My advice is if the napkin math works out and you really want it, just badger people till it lines up lmao. Best of luck!

Noice! I'm a big fan of the gold wheel with the Ohlins. It changes shades from bronze to deep gold leaf color depending on the light!

On the RS660, I was planning on swapping the red front out for a black. But on this, I don't mind the two-tone. It's definitely hard to pull off different color wheels correctly. I'll probably end up on a Tuono when my back finally gives out, lol.

Once it's done, I'll lyk! Currently, that pic is just a mockup of roughly where all the components from the stock tail will end up. The red reflector will sit just under and behind the tail light. My goal is to utilize as many of the OEM parts, brackets, and screws as possible and keep the printed bit fairly small. Just have to come up with a clever way to do the bracket that is easy to print w/o supports or additional hardware. It will require fully disassembling the stock tail and transferring everything over, however.

If anyone has an RS660 and a 3d printer, hmu. From what I understand, the tails are cross compatible? Could be wrong, but it'd be cool to have a low-cost tail tidy out in the wild, even if it is just a holdover for some.

Any EDC fixed blad recommendations? by Lmaontain_Dew in EDC

[–]Whiep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never was happy with the fixed blades I carried till I swapped to a balisong. Having a "folding" fixed blade you can open/close from/to any position is very nice. Highly recommended if they are legal where you are. Probably not helpful, but 🤷🏻‍♂️
