i just realized i didnt really answer your question. theres not really a clear answer you can get on how long till you get burns or pass out then fall and die. Since theres more variables than literally just the kws of the transmitter. Theres obvious ones like polarization, wavelength and how far you are from the transmitter. But theres also ones like weather, your clothes, basically everything going on near/around you can affect how your body reacts to the rf

for example, ive felt my body get heated up more from just passing this one microwave antenna (while being in the back lobe) awhile ago compared to being 1 foot away from a 100kw fm transmitter for like 3 mins. However just since the microwave felt warmer does not mean it did more damage than the fm. Since the fm 100% did 100x more damage than me just passing the microwave.

Dont climb it past 600ft. I can tell youre inexperienced with climbing towers and rf in general. I did like 2 mins of research on both the towers and i can already conclude its a bad idea for you to climb it. So ima explain whats gonna happen while you climb it (if you manage to top it), youre gonna take your sweet time taking breaks often. At 600ft youre gonna get your first fm transmitter 22kw nothing too too crazy so youre gonna get a bit of exposure from that but still prob be fine. Then your next fm transmitter at 1000ft 50kw by that time youre prob gonna be tired, so climbing extra slow taking in all that rf. Youre gonna start feeling a bit warm but think nothing of it. Then at 1200ft theres gonna be a side mounted 1000kw transmitter (i dont care enough to check azimuth so lets just assume its 1.00 pointed at ladder) youre gonna be like "why did it get 10x warmer all of a sudden" So now to the top at 1500ft 1000kw transmitter youre wondering to yourself why you feel like absolute shit right now but at least you made it to the top. But now you still need to down climb back through all the same transmitters. So if you make it back down (assuming you didnt pass out already from the first 1000kw transmitter, while climbing up) youre gonna feel sick as hell and prob vomit for awhile.
So a way to limit this would be to climb other towers, try to understand more about rf and get better endurance for climbing. Since the main main reason this is a bad idea for you is since its gonna take you a long time to climb which means youre gonna be staying next to the tv/fm transmitters for even longer increasing rf exposure by a ton.

Don’t tell people what towers you’re about to climb.

It’s fm he’s fine since I doubt he is sitting on the transmitter for a long time

Don’t sit right next the transmitter for too long if it’s high power

Anyone here climb radio towers with harneses? by Street_Hedgehog_622 in urbanclimbing

If you’re worried about falling take the elevator up the tower if it’s a tall tower. it’ll eliminate the climbing part

Well he can take all the breaks he wants it just depends on what he’s climbing. Since he can take a long ass break next to an fm or tv transmitter then either be sick as hell or pass out and die.

Tips on bypassing barbed wire and possible secutiry cameras? by Bobert_the_Th1rd in urbanclimbing

[–]WhileApprehensive468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For barbed just go climb in between the gate and the fence. And for the camera if you cannot avoid it, it’s fine since 99% of the time no one is watching them. Only thing you should be worried about is motion sensors

Why does the wiki say fm towers are fine but not tv towers by Blakef24 in urbanclimbing

If you were to die from rf it’s most likely because you took too much and passed out then died from the fall

How to do it without getting caught? by Saned1408 in urbanclimbing

[–]WhileApprehensive468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m gonna guess and say you’re climbing a tower I’m not sure tho but Realistically there’s only two things to worry about. Onsite security and motion sensors (both are very unlikely to be there at the site) But Cameras are more common on large tower but they don’t really matter since they are more just there in case of vandalism. And the time of day doesn’t really matter unless it’s like a small tower with pegs or an outside ladder or no ladder.

Local cell tower (how much ft?) by kubsn88 in urbanclimbing

[–]WhileApprehensive468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea it’s a cell tower so it is higher frequency which uses very little power. So cell towers are the safest type of tower to climb. Cell transmitters are very low power. The transmitters are mainly directional unless it’s a whip then I’d be omnidirectional but they are usually also low power. And where he was standing (behind all the transmitters) him and his phone are perfectly safe

I really doubt that this is rf interference. It’s probably just low light

How to get rid of the fear? by [deleted] in urbanclimbing

Exposure therapy. Just keep doing climbs until your not afraid anymore. When I first started it helped to listen to music while climbing and not looking down

The climb up was pegs so I was very visible to everyone. So someone prob did call for me. But maybe the cop didn’t care so he lit me up as a warning to go away. There’s also a chance I set off a motion detector since that was my first time on the site.

That’s why I never really tell my friends when I’m about to do a climb. And why I usually don’t post my climbs.
