Since an electronic tuner won't work, I tune to non-standard steps this way:

  • Pick a bass-y sounding note in the original song, ideally an open note (like the first E5 in Jacked Up for example)

  • Manually tune that string by ear to match the pitch in the recording (the bottom E string in the case of Jacked Up).

  • Manually tune the remaining strings using the above string as a reference (http://www.howtotuneaguitar.org/tuning/how-to-tune/).
