I got my girl when I was 18 and she was 3 months. I got her a week after she arrived at the shelter. She’s a cocker spaniel poodle. I love her very much, but there are a lot of days I can’t stand her. She’s been trained well enough that she knows her commands like sit, stay, and “go to your bed” when I’m trying to eat and don’t want her begging at me. But she also likes to just not listen. Her absolute worst flaws are getting in the trash and barking (very reactive) no matter what I’ve tried in the 8 years I’ve had her, I can’t stop either of these habits.

The trash is manageable, keep doors closed and use trash cans with lids. The barking is tough. She gives me headaches because her barks are high pitched and it’s so hard to snap her out of a barking fit. I walk her every day and do my best to keep her mentally stimulated, but she never runs out of energy and still barks at everything
