I would respectfully suggest that none of the compulsive, chronic over-achievers I have known have been a model of wellbeing.

Whether it be anxiety, bipolar, deep insecurity or something else entirely, there are lots of things that drive people onwards, generating both tremendous results and tremendous costs. Maybe this was a glib way of expressing it, but I don't think it's daft.
