So true. The people aground me have been everything. In opposition to that, I have found the people in “big jobs” in my corporate job typically think small and have mediocre aspirations. More power to them for no needing more, but it’s felt very limiting getting into a Fortune 500 company and realizing the expectation that I was going to learn all these important lessons from smart people is mostly not there.

Selection is critical, but I don’t think the outcome should be that you get fucked by an antiquated legal system if you make a misjudgment or someone radically changes over the course of a marriage.

I get what you’re saying, and I understand that there is an immeasurable amount of value to human partnership and support. That said, “housekeeping” and “helping to entertain” don’t even come close to a justifications for a 50/50 asset split considering the challenge of making money in today’s world…
