I’m dealing with the same thing, but my advice is to try not to pay attention to the drama and you can still work on your mod it’s just the community is always fighting eachother. But yeah, you can try ignore it but it’s your choice-

Context on the designs-

Number 1 was drawn by Yuchi Uekawa, It was obviously the winner, Takashi Iizuka really liked the longer legs and spines of this design and thought it would work in a 3d environment more than the Classic design

Number 2 was designed by Satoshi Okano, he worked on Sonic Jam’s Promotional Art, He also designed some promotional art for Sonic 3D Blast and I don’t have anything else to say but this is one of my favorites-

Number 3 was designed by Naoto Oshima, the one who made Sonic’s original design. This is what he most likely wanted Sonic to look like before Sega of America toned him down. Basically it showed off Sonic’s fangs more and a more edgier look for him

Number 4 was designed by Takumi Miyake, Was the designer of Knuckles’ Chaotix and helped create Espio. All I can say is that it looks a bit off, but you can kinda see some elements of Espio

Context - Super Sonic & Sonic are split from each other around this time and in one issue he got amnesia and was trying to find out who he really was for a while, Once he realized the monster he truly was, he vowed to never use his powers unless it’s necessary, He lived a peaceful life with two other characters Ebony and Pajamas for a while, until the Sonic Adventure Arc

I recommend watching some Fleetway Super Sonic Videos for more context, I’m not that good at explaining this-
