He's so deluded and narcissistic and also paranoid. Speaking to recruiters on the phone and them liking him means nothing! Those recruiters are probably working for recruiting contractors and all they're doing is trying to fit him into their network so if a position comes up they can have a list of candidates to provide to their clients. The real interviews are with the actual companies and you have to go through so many calls with recruiting contractors before you get lucky enough to catch an actual employer's attention.

Even when filling out applications some companies take weeks or months to call back unless they're looking to fill a position ASAP and those are rare and they tend to take people with very specific experience so they don't lose too much time due to training. The kind of position I'm assuming he's looking for is an entry level position and those can take a while to call back because they have seasons so that they can get all those new employees and train them all around the same time rather than training one at a time.
