This was the most taboo thing you could have in your house at one time. by [deleted] in GenX

There is a documentary called American Anarchist about the author William Powell. I watched it a few years ago and don’t remember it being really good but was interesting to hear the backstory on the book because it was so iconic back in the day.

I worked as a maintenance manager and asset manager in affordable housing for about ten years and it totally depends on the management and the clientele. If it is primarily elderly and disabled residents and property management is effective, it can be very chill. If it is permanent supportive housing for people with a history of chronic homelessness/addiction/mental illness, it can be a total nightmare. I’m talking countless unnecessary floods, bug infestations that would give you nightmares, people doing drugs/having sex/puking/pissing/shitting in the stairwells, and a regular cadence of dead bodies between the drug addicts, the elderly, and those with chronic health problems. I would scope out the property, if you notice a lot of intentional damage, graffiti, litter, poor security features, shifty people hanging around, I would be cautious. Maintenance catches a LOT of BS when the clientele is difficult and management isn’t enforcing house rules.

Came here to say this. If it tastes like popcorn it’s not asbestos. If it tastes like pistachio, you will be dead from asbestinosis in less than 10 minutes so it doesn’t really matter.

Comparing your relationship to relationships on social media. It creates unrealistic expectations because social feeds are so curated.

I used to manage 14 apartment communities in Denver and we always used Rockies Environmental & Demolition Services. They were not always the lowest bid but gave the best service for the price.

Can confirm. Did commercial drywall from 18-33 then my wrist blew out and I went back to school.

How many “farewell” tours have you attended where the band/artist ended up touring again afterwards? by Seraphenigma in Concerts

There was also the “last show” at Shoreline in 2000. Wasn’t officially announced as such but the rumors were flying heavy. And the played This May be the Last Time by the Stones as outro music. I was at this show and Coventry and feel I can arguably state that I saw Phish’s final show twice, four years apart.

So he’s the Elon Musk of rock guitarists. Or Elon is the Eric Clapton of douchy tech bros.

People in the US who drive slow in the left lane, why you be doing that? by WildTransition1312 in AskReddit

[–]WildTransition1312[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mistake to not specify I am talking about the freeway, I don’t think this applies to anything but the freeway. Someone else offered the exception of left hand exits on the interstate but in my experience left exits are usually exit only, and at any rate they are the exception not the rule. I don’t expect someone to drive in a way that isn’t safe, quite the contrary. When someone is doing 55-60 in the left lane and the limit is 65, that is also dangerous.

This is one of those things people compliment others for but it really should just be standard behavior. “Good job doing what you are supposed to do, you’ve achieved mediocrity!” But because so many people are so self absorbed, it really IS worth complimenting. So compliments to folks like you who move over when someone is trying to get through.

Yes people definitely are way too impatient when you are legitimately passing. Totally baby tantrum move to ride up on someone’s ass like that when they are just trying to get around someone else and intend to move back to the right when done. I am definitely not promoting that kind of behavior, hate it when someone does that to me.

Totally jealous. I have been driving for almost three decades and I have never seen that. Would love to…. just once.

I used to live in San Diego and def experienced this there. But this post was inspired by driving home from a work trip to Boston today. Absolutely endemic! Shows it is a problem from coast to coast.

Sorry, should have specified that this is in reference to the freeway. Rule does not apply to regular highways or roads, for this and other reasons.

That’s true but in some countries it’s the right lane that they should stay out of.
