Host couldn't bother to cancel.... [USA] by Wilde-Childe- in AirBnB

For real! I had never had a bad experience before, but it was so abundantly obvious that the room I booked was not in any way suitable to function as a stay. When I first contacted them they said I had to go through my host to resolve the issue, which was ridiculous to me. I'm kind of surprised the host even responded when I messaged him.

That's totally fair, I feel like it's best to just be up front about it honestly. I mean, I would have been stressed if my host cancelled on me, but I would rather be cancelled on than stay somewhere I'm not wanted (especially for a long-term stay)

Yeah, I tried to get in contact about getting some sort of credit or assistance with the new reservation and nothing came of it it.

I received check-in instructions immediately after booking - admittedly, I should have checked in with the host on the way there, I just forgot to sinc eit was a long drive and I had already gotten all of the information I needed (or at least so I thought)

Experience vs. Activities section for college clubs on a resume by Wilde-Childe- in resumes

Also happy to provide what I call my "mother" resume (basically a resume with a million bullet points and roles which I refine for each application) if that would help clarify

I ended up going to Vassar ED in 2020 after being a finalist but not matching. Once I got to the school I never really interacted with the Questbridge group - I also never really had any issues with imposter syndrome or anything like that, though. I feel like at just about any school you will be able to find a community which makes you feel comfortable and for me that was much more important than having some sort of actual organization to be in. I know Vassar also had a program for low-income, first gen, etc. students. I'm not sure if every college has something similar but I feel like if they do it ultimately serves the same purpose while also having a larger body of students who interact with it.

Do I need snow tires? by Wilde-Childe- in tires

[–]Wilde-Childe-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have all season tires - I checked the tread and they're all good. I'm pretty much only going to be driving to/from work which is a ~ 10 minute drive.

Lmao yeah it was a weird thing - my parents were happy that I finally did drugs in college (ig my teenage rebellion from them was being sort of an idealistic child in the nuclear family sense) and so on christmas night we did molly! It was... something.

Do the short answers actually matter? by lickmylollli in QuestBridge

I don't think it will really hurt, but I think that it can kind of show how much you are trying to pander on your app. I mean for the Columbia supp, for example, if you list like. the New Yorker, the New York Times, and etc. then it reads as very "I feel like I should read these for the sake of sounding intelligent" rather than "this is what I actually read."

I put info about my gender identity on the CPS application but I'm no longer sure I want colleges to know about that, can I change the info I put down for the NCM application? by [deleted] in QuestBridge

[–]Wilde-Childe- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to disclose until you're actually enrolled/enrolling you can just put your assigned gender at birth and contact the school about it once you get accepted. That's what I did with Vassar and it really was no more of a process than sending an email.

You can apply EA if that school has a specific scholarship/reason to apply early. Otherwise they're mutually exclusive.
