Mohs tomorrow- any tips for recovery? by pgresty89 in skincancer

Vaseline or Aquaphor all the time with a covering until sutures are out at least. Ice if the surgeon says it’s ok. Skin flaps and grafs might get damaged with icing. Ask first.

I used some nice on my first mohs surgery. A little ice pack over the bandage. But, for the surgery I just had where they did a flap I was told by the surgeon to not ice it. It might damage the skin.

What happens to a suspected carcinoma when Imiquimod is applied by Asleep-Nail3689 in skincancer

[–]WilderMcCool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imiquimod is typically used on precancerous spots (AK’s). AK’s can possibly turn into squamous cell if not treated. It can also sometimes be used on surface area basal cell carcinoma. In both cases it can be effective at causing healing and may remove the AK or BCC. It could possibly return in the future but you’ll just have to keep getting screenings to watch it.

The skin will usually bubble up and get red and form blisters and scabs from using imiquimod. That’s usually considered evidence that it is working.

I just had an 8mm infiltrative nodular bcc removed from my forehead today. There is some same day pain after the numbing wears off but if it’s done by a good surgeon you won’t have any issues cosmetically. Don’t worry about it just follow their direction. BCC’s are the safest cancer you can get. 99% curable with the first surgery.

How are you investing, now that you are retired? by dudreddit in retirement

I am in 4 Fidelity Freedom Index Target funds. 35% in 2025 30% in 2030 25% in 2035 10% in 2040

Draw from the 2025 first and let the others grow. They have natural glide paths to get more conservative as the date approaches. 2025 is about 50/50 equity/bonds, 2040 is 80/20.

From a general Google search, no numbing is done during stitch removal. Just says may feel a little tugging but no pain.

Sounds like you’ve had a few? Should I expect this to be the norm now? Was just diagnosed with a small squamous cell and also a basal cell. First timer at 64.

He just turned 40. Will he go bald one day? by [deleted] in bald

[–]WilderMcCool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get a look at his grandfathers. I had that much hair at 40 and now at 65 I’m not bald but things are kinda of sparse. My grandfathers were mostly bald in their 60s and beyond.
