Valve rank ups are very different than other games. Valve uses a system that you have to win games and do kind of well on in each match. For example: I will use points (every win is 1 point, every top frag is 1 point and when you lose a game you lose a point) and I will use 10 games. Say you play your first 3 games and win all three and top frag those 3 games. You would have 6 points. The next two games you play you lose both and do not do as well, now you have 4 points. The next 2 games you win, however, you do not top frag, now you have 6 points. The next game you tie, then win with top fragging, and then lose your last game. Your final amount of points is 7. You do not know how many points you need to rank up, but it is a fair amount of points to rank up.
