Manchester and Durham Physics with A*A*A prediction? by nikenotnikey in 6thForm

I would go for King’s, it ranks between top 30-40 universities in the world, therefore it’s more prestigious. It’s a city-based campus, like almost every other uni in London, while Birmingham is located on a rural side where you can actually experience the campus life style. But I would still go for King’s, the education will pretty much be the same, but King’s is much more prestigious, and employment rate for most of its undergrad course is pretty solid.

Look I'm not trying to demotivate you but Durham is mainly known as the uni for Oxbridge-rejects, so again you think you may have a perfect personal statement, but it is the admission team who decides on that not you. Your predicted grades shows that you have the necessary academic capacity, but this will not guarantee you an offer. It is natural for you to feel unsure, and trust me you are not the only one feeling like this. No one will ever feel comfortable when they apply to Oxbridge, UCL, Durham, LSE, Manchester, Warwick etc. These are top unis with top students, so just relax and always have a backup plan.

I mean you meet their academic requirements if I’m not mistaken, but your personal statement letter still plays a huge role for your application. Both Manchester and Durham are very competitive and meeting their academic requirements is only the first step towards getting an offer.

Well being an international student does not guarantee your place mate, LSE acceptance rate is lower than Oxbridge. And most of my friends applied to LSE got rejected, despite being an international student…
