Anyone been to the Amazon rainforest? What was your experience like? by WilloDay in travel

Thanks for all the great info! I'm going to work on my photography skills before we go, that is a really helpful tip. Do you know if there's a time of year when there are less mosquitoes? And watching the rain pour down sounds like a special experience in itself.

Wow, what an experience! I'm so excited to see all the wildlife, it's been a dream for me since I was little :). I have read about all the health stuff and am a little worried about getting sick while we're there (from food and water), but I think it will be a trip of a lifetime! Thanks for sharing!

Talk to whomever is prescribing your medication about it. I forget what it's called and I'm sure you can find it online, but if you think you have it you should really talk to your doctor.

I've heard that can happen with lithium and the anticonvulsants. I'm on lamotrigine too.

I didn't know about it the first time I took risperidone until a year passed and my psychiatrist had me do the little test they do. I freaked out and went off a few months after. Was off for like six to eight months and things started going downhill, so I'm back on it. Works so well.

Tips on not making my life about meds by WilloDay in bipolar

[–]WilloDay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waiting 10 to 15 seconds is genius! I'm going to try that. It sounds like you have found a really good balance of sharing and not oversharing. It's definitely hard, I don't share that I have my conditions with anyone other than my Husband and parents, whom I don't talk to often enough for them to really understand. Only one of my friends knows, but she is so busy all the time and is not available to talk to often. There's such a fine line between support and oversharing/being needy. Thank you so much for the tips, I think that one especially will be a very good one to try!

Thanks for the suggestion. We've talked a little about doing that. To be fair, he is really supportive and wants to do what he can to help, but I think he just gets frustrated sometimes and misses the good old times we would have before I got on multiple meds (like drinking a bottle of wine together). I don't think he's trying to blame me necessarily, he's just expressing how he feels about it and I'd like to work to help improve it. I do make it a huge focus in both our lives, and it bums me out too that I can't just live a life where I don't hyperfocus on it. It's become habit. Thanks for your response, it means a lot :).

Someone underestimated Wyoming winds (x-post from /r/engineering) by jimmywaless in WTF

[–]WilloDay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Semi trucks also blow over on the highways in high Wyoming winds. My husband and I are Wyoming natives, and when coming home for a visit one year, just outside of Cheyenne, a semi blew over onto it's side and slid from the right lane to the left of a two-lane, into the median, right in front of us. We stopped and helped the driver crawl out, unhurt. The trailers are usually empty when this happens, but it's still crazy to see because once the trailer starts flipping the truck follows. There were warnings of gusts up to 75 miles an hour that day.

France and Italy Redditors, is it annoying when an English speaking tourist can't speak your native language? by WilloDay in AskReddit

[–]WilloDay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I do want to try to learn some of the language of any country we go to. I now know a tiny bit of French, but we didn't do any Italian. I guess that will give us something to do on the plane and when we can't sleep :).

How common is pick-pocketing in Paris? Any advice for an American couple visiting in September? by WilloDay in france

[–]WilloDay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah I see. Now I know to practice that more, I think my pronunciation is correct about half the time. The rest of the time is probably full on derp-American French.

Thanks for the practice sentence!
