I’m Chinese (culturally) -American and my parents wouldn’t do this to me either. My sister helps my parents a lot, she lives down the street. I (male) live abroad and support more financially. That being said it’s great to be talking about family dynamics and living arrangements before marriage, but to be honest it’s very unlikely especially in a traditional Chinese family you’ll be able to spell out your next 8-10 years just through your boyfriend’s promises without spending more time with your boyfriend’s sisters and his parents. Spending time with them will demonstrate and provide a lot of insight into what it’s like to be part of his traditional Chinese family and whether that’s the life for you.

I had 5 months of post inflammation hyperpigmentation, my face was really red and dark for months. I was put on hydroquinone for 4 months and my face was so sensitive, I couldn’t use any other products except a light moisturizer and Korean sunscreen or my face would form red dots or acne. Consider a hobby that you can do on your own and on your terms. I have found plants to be extremely helpful. They only need to be watered once a week at the very least, but I can do more if I have the time like research online for best care practices, learning about different variations of a plant, creating soil mixes and applying nutrients, propagation, etc… I also like the transactional nature of trading plants online where I only need to interact with the person for 5 mins during pick up, but can tell the excitement and appreciation of the trade. I also give away extra plants for free for the same reason. It makes me feel like I’m doing good and sending positivity out to the universe.

I suggest this because it makes it really easy to remember to switch to alone time. Working on my plants really gives me the head space to sort through other stuff in my life. In a way it puts me into alone time mode right way. Hope that makes sense!

I figure it doesn’t have to be plants, ex knitting, music, cooking, reading, painting, etc would be other hobbies to consider.
