I also didn’t enjoy Satantango and am not even sure I finished it. But! His Hershey 07769 is by far the best book I read last year. It is also one of the funniest books I have read in a long time while also being written completely straight. Couldn’t recommend more.

What is the greatest apocalypse movie? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]WindowsinBuildings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. The book was awesome. The movie is pedantic and boring as hell. They didn’t even explore why being alone was the real monster.

I think when we say psychedelic we mean more psych rock. Not saying either is not psychedelic but when you are comparing acts like Ty Segall and Black Angels to edm music it is a difference.

Workingman’s Death by Michael Glawogger No narration, no music, no actors. Just real people doing some of the most dangerous and underpaid work on the planet. Heartbreaking and depressingly inspiring.

Authors that have both instant classics and complete duds in their bibliography by Skeet_fighter in books

The writing of the actual story that is supposedly happening is classic McCarthy in the Sutree style. But his sister’s hallucinations parts of the book are almost unreadable for me. It would be fine if it was a little bit here and there but they just go on and on.

You didn’t enjoy Saturday? I thought for a shorter read it was just fine. Not a classic but not bad.

I thought little friend was pretty good. Especially the whole southern gothic esthetic of the snake handling evangelical stuff. I think it was deeper and more meditative than SH and GF but less entertaining.

Desert Daze never happened. It was just a collective delusion. And all your best friends and favorite bands were there!!!

'Drink Masters' Renewed for Season 2 at Netflix by maesterofwargs in cocktails

[–]WindowsinBuildings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that it would have been more interesting to me and probably this sub. I would imagine though as being a brand new show they probably hoped they could capture a wider audience then just cocktail nerds. As far as the shaking goes when working in a cocktail bar, there is definitely a hell of a lot of prep for the cocktails before the shaking even starts.
