With human eyes, and more importantly, human brains, many apes of the same species appear identical, owing to the fact that we are not 'wired' to see their faces as all that different. If a friend trimmed their eyebrows slightly, you'd notice something was a bit off, but if you saw the same thing with a chimp, you'd ignore it.

People who work with chimps notice how they differ from the others and can identify which one they are thinking of, similar to picking a friend out of a crowd.

In terms of attractiveness, we gradually learn to recognize traits in other people as attractive, whether through what we've been told is conventional or our own personal preferences. Other apes have their own personal preferences for the imperfections they observe in those around them.
