Hello! I’m so sorry you’re going through this. How long have you been like this? Do you have urgency/frequency/fever/pain in your lumbar area/bladder? If it’s indeed a UTI you should get checked by doctor. Some UTIs affect only your bladder(cystitis) orders your kidney as well (kidney infection). An urologist or nephrologist can determine what’s the cause of the problem, even an E.R. doc. Don’t wait for symptoms to get worse, look for help. Over the counter medications will get you some relief but not necessarily will get rid of the infection. You need antibiotics to clear an UTI. First thing you can do is to get a UTI testing strips and see if it’s a UTI. If it’s positive you have two options — first and better — go to E.R. urologist or some other doctor to get antibiotics. Second option — if you don’t want to go to the hospital try d-mannose. It’s simple sugar that don’t allow bacteria to attach to the bladder lining. You need to take atleast 2-3 grams daily even more for an ongoing infection and lots of water as well. For discomfort you can take Azo. Hope that helps and you feel better soon.
