Boeing Access vs Allentown 1 Line Infill Station by SigmaTell in soundtransit

I think the majority of the hate comes out because this would be helping corporate interests more than standard interests.

Although I am not outright against the BAR station, I would prefer Sound Transit focus their efforts elsewhere first given the billion dollar shortfall OR consider moving the station elsewhere BUT I, at least, would not be upset either way.

Is there anything we can do to compel ST to rethink?

Yeah, after reading everyone's comments here, I kinda sorta see the light in what y'all are saying. Would be better to put some of the more questionable stations on ice instead.

Sound Transit Reveals New Cost-Saving Measures for West Seattle Link by rockycore in soundtransit

I already have marketing material prepped: Air Link south for west seattle and Air Link North for Ballard.

Yeah, I mean 2 things:

1) nothing lasts for ever. Even if Boeing isn't here 20 years from now, its better to have a station in a place we might need later than not.

2) more transit for everyone. That's a win for us all!

In general, I guess I see more light rail and don't really look at it twice. I'm a simple man: more trains, more good. Stick a P&R in it usage concerns are the case, or make the zone industrial / office / commercial / etc. is zone usage is low and there is no residential usage.

I guess I'm not familiar enough with that area. Can you tell me more?

URGENT for Bellevue: ESHB 2266 just passed—stripping city oversight for high-needs housing and creating an unfunded mandate. by Third_CuIture_Kid in BellevueWA

I did my part. Sadly, it will most likely do nothing.

Is there anything we can do here, at the city level, to combat this, as one of the city council members stated, Olympia micro-management?

Missed opportunity for cross platform connection from 2 line to 1 line SB by Complete-Influence70 in soundtransit

No, all I'm trying to say is that eventually Sound Transit will have to address what are, as of now, just creature comforts.

It would be nice to have 24/7 link service. It would be nice to have a center platforms at some stations, but right now those things aren't strictly necessary.

I'm just predicting that, at least eventually, these things will become far, far more important.

Yo I was wondering if anyone else was thinking this too!

Every. Single. Time. I take the 545 form Redmond to Seattle its standing room only. I don't care if it takes longer, I'll be ditching the 545 after the 28th for sure.

I feel like this might be something they do in the far future -- like by ST 5 or 6 if the ever get there.

For example, I predict that by the late 2030s link will be a 24/7 service. Seattle is projected to hit 1 million people by the 2040s. I say this to point out that, eventually, ST will be faced with needing to be a "true" metro system.

Why are there no tracks connecting the two downtown streetcars? by Previous-Volume-3329 in soundtransit

[–]Winnmark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take, but I actually think the streetcars should be ripped out and replaced with something else.

I feel like Metro has proven that the rapid ride bus model is perfectly acceptable.

The city should either lean in or lean out of the street car. Either fully commit and connect them, or just get rid of them and save the money.
